I don't suppose that it would work with Norton because I think that I uninstalled it completely. A little while ago, after installing Avast I got a little window asking me if I wanted to enable the Defender but before I could do it the window disappeared and I never saw it again. I think that if I had clicked on that window it would have enabled it!
Windows Defender in Windows 8.1 Will Not Turn On
I recently updated Windows 8 to Windows 8.1. Windows Defender had been on in Windows 8 and even after the update to 8.1. I turned it off momentarily but have been unable to turn it back on. To my knowledge, I have no other anti-virus programs running. How can I turn it back on?

2015-04-11T19:17:08+00:00 In order to download Microsoft Defender it was necessary for me to go to the McAfee website & download the McAfee removal tool. It worked like a charm. As long as McAfee is set up as your security software, it won't let you use another security software.
Defender is working fine with my Windows 10 but not with my Windows 8.1 ... !? :I
