Cannot log in: local account replaced with MS account and MS account inaccesable

I have been using my laptop with my local account - i.e. NOT an MS account - up until now.

Today I wanted to use Skype on the laptop for the first time. Skype requires the use of an MS account. Hence I created a dummy MS account (@outlook.com) with which I logged in and used Skype.

LITTLE DID I KNOW THAT I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO USE MY LOCAL ACCOUNT TO LOGIN ANYMORE!!!

I have the original user-id and password for my local account well documented (and protected).

BUT now I cannot log in with the MS account I created because some problem with the password (it has been blocked due to too many erroneous tries I reckon). Since it was meant to be a dummy account which I did not intend to use in the future I did not bother completing the form and take note of such things as security question, alternative e-mail, telephone etc.

NOW WHAT???

I WANT MY LOCAL ACCOUNT BACK!!!

What can I do??? I am desperate for help on this issue.

PS: I created another MS-dummy account with which I am posting this question.

I found this thread while searching for whether Microsoft will lock me out of my new Windows 8.1 laptop when I take it with me to the lake, where I do not have any internet service due to the location being as rural as the USA gets, for watching PVRed shows or DVDs.

It sounds like Microsoft will actually lock me out of my own laptop if it can't talk to them about me.

This whole Windows 8 account scenario is very disturbing, enough so that I may just return this Windows laptop back to Costco for a refund and go with something else that won't tell me "sorry you cannot use me today because i can't talk to Microsoft about it" and/or "Sorry but Microsoft felt like you needed to do something differently with your accounts, so now the account you set up no longer works and you need internet service and a lot of luck to get it working again, and by the way... surprise!"

    Hi Shawn,

I tried the 'reset page' but received an answer that I did not provide enough information to recover the account and the request has been closed.

    What can I do now?

I am having the same issue.  I want my local account back and not the MS account when I turn my computer on.  Need help with this too.

There's a website where you can chat directly with Microsoft and they should be able to help.

I agree, Shawn, they should be able to help me.

I actually started by speaking on the phone with MS support. After checking several "resources" the rep eventually told me the only way to solve my problem was to use the support chat. After a lengthy online chat, that rep told me fixing the problem would require taking control of my computer and for that to happen, I had to dial an 800 number. I called that number and explained the problem for the third time. I protested when that rep wanted to send me BACK to support chat, so, instead she told me that she was escalating the case.

That was after two hours of being ping-ponged between phone and online chat support.

An email  from the "Windows Live Global Escalation Team" came the next day. After a few exchanges, they told me, "Please refer to the link below for further assistance in logging into your computer."

That link took me to this community forum.

There's a website where you can chat directly with Microsoft and they should be able to help, but as you might imagine you have to sign in to the site to get that direct assistance:

    https://support.microsoft.com/getsupport/hostpage.aspx?oaspworkflow=start_1.0.0.0&wf=0&wfName=billing&locale=en-US&ccsid=635267111031365111&wa=wsignin1.0

If you have that primary account you can use to get in and seek assistance, they should be able to verify your identity on the other account and reset it for you.
