Facebook video calling / chat does not work after windows 8.1 PRO upgrade / update

Hi,

I originally had windows 8 PRO where facebook calling was working fine.

I upgraded to 8.1 PRO on 17th, since then am unable to see the Facebook video calling button. I also frequently get the msvcr110.dll was not found error.

  1. I have tied all solutions posted on this forum like do a clean boot, uninstall - install etc.
  2. Microsoft Fix it page says "We're sorry, but your operating system is not supported by Microsoft Fix it at this time."
  3. Tried running in compatibility mode.
  4. I even tried downloading .net frame work and C+ redistribution, but it says system already has the latest software.
  5. I also see some event errors in the event logger:

    Right click on google chrome launch icon and go to properties.......then under the compatibility tab choose to run chrome in compatibility mode of windows 8......it worked for me.......this is just a workaround to keep things working but still shame microsoft :(

    Hi Jaheshkp & Geethu, 

    I found a way to hack the issue with IE 11.

    1. Login to Facebook using IE11
    2. you see the blue bar on top stating your browser is incompatible.
    3. Hit F12, this opens developer mode.
    4. Scroll to the left hand side bottom to reach Emulation mode.
    5. Select User Agent string as IE 10

    You now start seeing the video chat icon on facebook.,..

    This leads me to only one conclusion:

    Facebook is not compatible with IE 11.

    Hope this helps either of the service provider to solve the issue.

    Hi Geethu, am not using skype, am logging into facebook.com and there i dont see the video call icon besides any of my online contacts... this happened after i upgraded to 8.1 on 17th morning. i also tried using compatible mode, clearing cache etc. it doesnt help... this issue is onn IE11, chrome and mozilla...

    Additionally when i login to facebook.conm using IE11 it says

    "For a better experience on Facebook, switch to our basic site or update your browser."

    Does this mean facebook does not support IE11 that comes with windows 8.1?

    IE Version details:

    11.0.9600.16384

    update RTM KB 2841143

    Please help.

    Hi Jahesh,

    This issue may occur due to compatibility or you need to change any settings in Facebook or on the web browser.

    Method 1:

    Step 1:

    If you are using Internet Explorer, then try the following steps and check:

    You may refer to the article to add check in compatibility view settings.

    Step 2:

    You may try to clear the browser cache and check.

    If you are using Internet Explorer, then try the following steps to clear the cache:

    You may try deleting the temporary internet files and check if it helps.

    a. Open Internet Explorer on desktop.

    b. Press Ctrl+Shift+Del, select and delete your temp files, cookies and browsing history.

    Method 2:

    Also make sure you have install the latest version of graphic card and other device drivers referring to the computer manufacturer website and also check Windows Updates for optional driver updates.

    You may also check with Facebook support for further assistance.
