You might want to download the Windows 7/8 hardware compatibility checker to see if your motherboard has enough oomph to run Windows 7/8 since your motherboard manual says:
Operating Systems:
Supports Windows XP 32bit/64bit and Windows Vista 32bit/64bit
It might work though, but then you are going to have to also see if they have Windows 7/8 drivers for your motherboard... they might not.
Lack of proper drivers sometimes happens when people get new store bought systems with 7/8 and don't like it and then install XP on it only to find out later that Dell or IBM or whoever doesn't make XP drivers for their motherboard (and they are not going to create any either).
No offence EldertL, but you need to review the previous posts. This machine is a custom build and the OP bought it from a friend who appears to have reinstalled the OS without checking device manager as to whether device drivers installed properly.
The OP doesn't have any documentation and didn't receive a drivers disk or even the OS installation media.
You're only confusing the issue by suggesting steps which are irrelevant to the issue at hand.
