Hello.
I am running Windows XP Prof with IE8.
Every morning, I manually check Windows Update for 'Express' and 'Custom' updates.
This morning (Mon Mat 17/14), when I checked 'Custom' updates, there was an ''Nov 2013 Update For Root Certificate for Windows XP ' KB 931125 update.
I downloaded and installed it but this seemed odd since this update was released 4 months ago.
Why was it offered again for the first time today? No other 'earlier' root certificate updates have been offered.

Nonetheless, 'how' is it uninstalled? It is not listed under Add/Remove Programs or in the 'Start' menu. In fact, the only place it is listed (and the only way that I even knew that it was installed) is under 'Program Files' in Windows Explorer but there is no 'Uninstall' file there.

I think it was a glitch with the XP Update-I just thought you might have had experience with an old update being re-offered even though a newer update was already installed.
I uninstalled MSE so there is no need to do anything regarding the update with the error message.However, I checked BITS again and it is still listed as 'BITS' and the service still shows as 'Started.'

Any idea why an old Nov 2013 Root Certificate Update (that was already installed in Nov when first offered) would be offered again on Mar 17 when the Mar 2014 Root Certificate Update was installed on Mar 11? Possible glitch within Windows Update?
In my Windows Update History, there was an Error Code 0x80246008 for KB 2310138 (Definition: 1.169.671.0)-Is this related to MSE, XP, IE, or is it another type of Update? I was having issues with MSE so I uninstalled it and installed AVG Free again.
I noticed that 'Defraggler' is listed under 'Program Files' but I have never used it.
Was it pre-installed with Windows XP, was it installed automatically when I installed another program, or would I have manually installed it at some point?
I use the built-in Defragmenter so I have no need for both Defragmenter and Defraggler-Is one better than the other and can Defraggler be uninstalled without causing any issues?

I don't remember what the XP update site URL is so I can't check that I'm afraid. All 8.1 updates are handled via Windows Control Panel so there's no need to use IE anymore.
MSE definition updates are all released as KB2310138 regardless of release date. The error code however seems to relate to BITS again: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/956706
Defraggler is made by Piriform. Same company that makes CCleaner. If you don't use it, go to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall it from there.
