Windows 8.1: WiFi dropping and/or "Limited"

Since installing 8.1 Pro, I'm having issues with WiFi dropping internet connectivity and always showing "Limited" when clicking on the system tray icon.  When I troubleshoot the problem using the system tool it is always the gateway that is faulty.  I have uninstalled/reinstalled the device drivers several times, installed the newest drivers directly from Intel, restarted the computer, etc.  I can restore connectivity by turning WiFi off then back on, but the connection will drop at what seems to be random intervals.  My applicable system specs are as follows;

Lenovo Y510P  Laptop

Windows 8.1 Pro

Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230

Apple Time Capsule router w/newest firmware

Needless to say this is quite an irritating bug that didn't exist prior to the update to 8.1  I hope this can be resolved quickly. Thanks!

    I am also having the same problem. After trying the power option on the network card the problem was ok but now it comes back again even with the power option unchecked.

    It may not be a router problem but a firmware problem. Many people have 8.1 and have never had a problem. If the router maker did some lazy programming that wasn't an issue before and Microsoft upgraded and now the error shows it wasn't the update. For security we need updates. Also there are millions of hardware firmware software combinations its hard to catch every possible conflict when each company is separate .

    Have you tried going into the network adapter properties and switching to obtain IP manually and use one with the first group 3 the same as your current one assigned by the router but making the last three in the 900s like 192.168.100.999

    I know they're not located everywhere, but for those who live near a Microsoft store, if you take your device into a Microsoft store, they will fix this problem at no charge. 

    A side note, for those who keep playing around with their router, this ISN'T a router problem, Yes, whatever you do with your router MAY fix the problem for whatever reason, but this is specifically an 8.1 issue--NOT a router issue.

    Thanks Chris for posting your solution. Right now I am trying something I found last night on my Netgear Geanie, (This is a Neatgear site used to troubleshoot the router's problems). After I did what I found there, my Wi Fi has been working fine.  I haven't have to reset  or anything since last night. If this ultimately doesn't work, I will give your suggestions a try.
