Windows 8.1: WiFi dropping and/or "Limited"

I tried the latest Intel driver but that made things worse as I said in my previous post.

The Microsoft driver I have now seems slightly better in that once its connected it seems to stay connected, but it is a pain sometimes when I first go in to Windows and it says unrecognised network and I have to disconnect and re connect to get it working.

Wish Microsoft and Intel would just SORT it!

I just bought a Dell inspiron in Best Buy yesterday, it was shipped with Windows 8 and everything worked well until I upgraded to Win 8.1.

I started to experience connectivity issues, I had to reconnect manually everytime the connection dropped. So the issue is of course related to Win 8.1.

I downloaded from Dell.com the latest driver for the wireless card an Intel centrino n7260 and the problem seems to be fixed now.

I have the same problem. We have many WIFI devices in our house - iPod Touches, phones, PS3, TVs, old Laptops etc, all work fine, except 2 PCs that have been upgraded to 8.1. 

Like everyone else I have restarted everything and checked the latest drivers etc. Still happens.

PCs effected:

Samsung ATIV PC Pro 700T

Samsung 700A all in one

Both these were working fine on the WIFI until I upgraded them to 8.1.

I find that if I disconnect the WIFI wait 10 seconds, then re connect the WIFI I get 10 minutes  of use on the WWW.

I am also having problems with wireless connection dropping on a regular basis.

I tried the latest Intel driver 16.1.1 and that made things worse in that it would say unrecognised network, and only rebooting my Superhub would bring it back. I am now back to Version 15.10.0.12 Microsoft Driver Date 25/06/13 after a system restore.

This definitely started after the Windows 8.1 update.

Come on Microsoft please sort this problem out!

Since installing 8.1 Pro, I'm having issues with WiFi dropping internet connectivity and always showing "Limited" when clicking on the system tray icon.  When I troubleshoot the problem using the system tool it is always the gateway that is faulty.  I have uninstalled/reinstalled the device drivers several times, installed the newest drivers directly from Intel, restarted the computer, etc.  I can restore connectivity by turning WiFi off then back on, but the connection will drop at what seems to be random intervals.  My applicable system specs are as follows;

Lenovo Y510P  Laptop

Windows 8.1 Pro

Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230

Apple Time Capsule router w/newest firmware

Needless to say this is quite an irritating bug that didn't exist prior to the update to 8.1  I hope this can be resolved quickly. Thanks!

Please create an Intel communities account and post a message in this thread, it is over 60 pages long of the same issues and Intel still has not fixed the issues and it has been over 1 year.

It will take some work to make a login at Intel since they made it near impossible to create an account. However it can be done.

The more people that post messages in that thread the more noise we make at Intel, the faster a resolution will be released. Although it has been over 1 year and I believe it is a hardware issue possibly due to the SOC not being able to keepup with the bandwidth streaming into the card.

Also try emailing Eric Miguel, ICS Manager at ******@intel.com to contact someone directly at Intel.

Let it also be noted a large chunk of users with Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6235 hardware will not notice any issues unless downloading large files or streaming long high def movies, of those many are not technical enough to distinguish between a hardware/driver error or a wifi router failure and will blame the router on poor service. So many of the issues go unreported.

It's obviously a big issue and Intel and the OEM vendors putting the 6235 into their products are twiddling their thumbs ignoring the issue until hardware warranties run out.
