Windows 8.1: WiFi dropping and/or "Limited"

Since installing 8.1 Pro, I'm having issues with WiFi dropping internet connectivity and always showing "Limited" when clicking on the system tray icon.  When I troubleshoot the problem using the system tool it is always the gateway that is faulty.  I have uninstalled/reinstalled the device drivers several times, installed the newest drivers directly from Intel, restarted the computer, etc.  I can restore connectivity by turning WiFi off then back on, but the connection will drop at what seems to be random intervals.  My applicable system specs are as follows;

Lenovo Y510P  Laptop

Windows 8.1 Pro

Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230

Apple Time Capsule router w/newest firmware

Needless to say this is quite an irritating bug that didn't exist prior to the update to 8.1  I hope this can be resolved quickly. Thanks!

    Try one of these:

    Restart your computer.

    Restart your router.

    Check if all router cables are plugged in.

    Disable all your firewalls (e.g. Windows Firewall, Comodo Firewall).

    In Network and Sharing Center, troubleshoot the network.

    Windows 8 and 8.1 are so frustrating and disappointing. This wifi **** never happened before I got windows 8. That's besides the point that microsoft FORCES you to register an account with them when you upgrade to 8.1... Which doesn't work all that differently...

    NEVER BUYING MICROSOFT PRODUCTS AGAIN.

    I have this exact problem. 

    I can safely say it is definitely a Windows 8.1 problem - it never arose under Windows 8 in the same network and the same computer works fine if I boot it into Linux, which I usually do as I like be able to use it for network stuff without having to plug in a cable.

    I can't understand why Microsoft have the Centrino N2235 still marked as "Windows 8.1 Compatible" on their compatibility checker when the public vote indicates overwhelmingly that it is not.

    SOLVED:

    i was having all the same problems that you guys were having, all i did was go to your wifi properties, then configure, then driver, then roll back driver.

    worked for me! :D

    Okay, I've been having similar problems, and tried similar solutions with no luck. Just a little while ago, I figured out that it seems to happen more often when my computer is busy. Using this new info, I stumbled upon this answer with a google search for 'wifi cuts out when computer is busy'

    Jackpot. Turns out, my computer turned off my wifi to save power. Very annoying. Here's how you can fix it:

    Although these may are not guaranteed to work, many people have found that they solved issues with wireless internet dropping in and out, depending on the device they’re using.

    WiFi Dropping Out On Vista/Windows 8

    1. Go into your control panel, click network connections, right click wireless connection and choose properties. In the “Power Management” section, untick the box that says “Allow The Computer To Turn Off This Device To Save Power.” Save.
    2. Go into your control panel, open up “Wireless Adapter Settings” then “Power Saving Mode” and check that it isn’t disconnecting your WiFi to save power.
