Windows 8.1: WiFi dropping and/or "Limited"

Since installing 8.1 Pro, I'm having issues with WiFi dropping internet connectivity and always showing "Limited" when clicking on the system tray icon.  When I troubleshoot the problem using the system tool it is always the gateway that is faulty.  I have uninstalled/reinstalled the device drivers several times, installed the newest drivers directly from Intel, restarted the computer, etc.  I can restore connectivity by turning WiFi off then back on, but the connection will drop at what seems to be random intervals.  My applicable system specs are as follows;

Lenovo Y510P  Laptop

Windows 8.1 Pro

Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230

Apple Time Capsule router w/newest firmware

Needless to say this is quite an irritating bug that didn't exist prior to the update to 8.1  I hope this can be resolved quickly. Thanks!

I have been having this problem for a long time as well. I finally "solved" it by connecting directly to the router with an Ethernet cable. The fact that this works makes it pretty clear that the problem is with the WiFi on the notebook using Windows 8.1.

I just followed the recommendation to disable the "Allow computer to turn off this device to save power" option for the WiFi adapter, so I'm going to see if that actually works as a real solution.

Right click the command prompt window > select all > press enter to copy and paste it here so I can see what the configuration settings are

    Are you still having issues?

I know it is frustrating. If you get an ethernet connection then you can narrow it down to the wireless side. The issue could be the way it connects to the router, radio interference, poorly written driver, or 3rd party drivers or software that breaks the driver.

Common issues are third party anti virus software and manufactures connection software.

if you PC is less then a year old Toshiba should be fixing on it. If they say its windows ask them which part and how is it that millions of PCs connect to the internet just fine and use windows 8.1

No, I'm not having any more Limited WiFi or other connectivity issues at all anymore, I fixed it myself.

Well, in answer to your Question, I don't believe MILLIONS of 8.1 users are connecting 'just fine'... I believe there are THOUSANDS that are NOT connecting and they just don't have the expertise, PC Savvy or 'time' to find this Forum...

This IS a 'software' issue... I'm in total agreement with you on that... and Microsoft writes the software... it is definitely a 'software' problem within Windows 8 and 8.1 conflicting with Network Adapter Drivers, Routers, what have you ... (that are not faulty)...

I've been reading FORUMS all over the Internet, (Not just this MS peer to peer Forum) and far too many People with brand new Computers are having this Problem... and MOST of them report their OTHER devices (Windows 7) have no problems connecting... just the 8 or 8.1 operating System seems to create serious connectivity issues...  so, based on MY Research, this is a Microsoft issue.

    Here! Google

    windows 8.1 wifi limited

    About 915,000 results (0.38 seconds)

I think this pretty much 'sums' it up....
