Windows 8.1: WiFi dropping and/or "Limited"

Since installing 8.1 Pro, I'm having issues with WiFi dropping internet connectivity and always showing "Limited" when clicking on the system tray icon.  When I troubleshoot the problem using the system tool it is always the gateway that is faulty.  I have uninstalled/reinstalled the device drivers several times, installed the newest drivers directly from Intel, restarted the computer, etc.  I can restore connectivity by turning WiFi off then back on, but the connection will drop at what seems to be random intervals.  My applicable system specs are as follows;

Lenovo Y510P  Laptop

Windows 8.1 Pro

Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230

Apple Time Capsule router w/newest firmware

Needless to say this is quite an irritating bug that didn't exist prior to the update to 8.1  I hope this can be resolved quickly. Thanks!

    I have downloaded new intel drivers as well, hope that it works. I have changed my wifi router and have the same problem - limited wifi and no internet since i installed windows 8 on my lenovo laptop.

    Hi. I believe I found a solution for my Qualcomm Wireless-N 1202 Network Adapter.

    1. Click on the battery icon in the right-bottom corner, and select "More power options".
    2. Select "High performance" box.
    3. Click on the "Change plan settings" next to the "High performance".
    4. Click on the "Change advanced power settings".
    5. Find "Wireless Adapter Settings", and change both "On battery" and "Plugged in" to: Low Power Saving, NOT Maximum Performance.
    6. Click on the "OK" / "Apply" button to save changes.
    7. Reboot computer.

    I have had this problem since I changed my router to D-Link DWR-116. I thought it's a router's problem, I tried everything in the router configuration, restored factory settings, etc. Unfortunately nothing helped. When I was connecting to my old router - everything worked fine. After computer restart my Wi-Fi connection was always "Limited", I was unable to enter router's administrator panel (192.168.2.1). Usually after router reboot everything worked fine... until next computer restart.

    For now it's fine for already 5 days, and I hope it will be like this forever.

    EDIT: Nope, it didn't fix the problem. I later bought a new router.

    I had problems with my ZBOX and the build in Intel(R) Centrino(R) WiFi card. It always failed to reconnect to the WLAN after reboot eventhough it was set to auto connect.

    Problem was solved by uninstalling the Intel PRO/set software and drivers for the Intel(R) Centrino(R).

    If I had a backbone I'd follow you in a second, except Chrome OS is not much more than a browser. I used it for a while and even installed it on my mother and aunt's computers and they were fine with it. I tried Windows 1.0 somewhere in the mid 80's. It was promising. That says everything - it is still "promising". If Microsoft can't get close with 30 years of development, they'll never get it. Bill Gates got out at the right time.

    On the other hand, Linux doesn't seem any better. Linux users are more accepting of difficult configuration problems. Android is also "promising".

    The problem is bigger than any of us. It is out of control.
