Windows 8/8.1 Explorer hangs when renaming a file through MTP

Hi, I switched to an Android phone and you know what? Renaming folders is the same pain! :-) funny like the preceding writers paragraphs...

Year 2017, problem still there.

It's been almost 3 years since I started this thread. I've seen so many people ranting about this. I updated my PC to Windows 8.1, updated my phone OS several times, I joined the Insider program, I sold my Lumia 620 and bought a Lumia 730, I used a lot of Insider builds all up to the official Windows 10 release last year. I continued testing some builds of the Redstone branch, I bought a Moto E, a Microsoft Lumia 640 XL Dual Sim, I installed the Anniversary update on my PC, recently installed the same on my Phone.

In short, it's been a long time. This so called small bug made me cringe during every stage above. I finally gave up and stopped trying some time ago. Its 2016 and i can't rename a file on my phone using my PC. I can change the name of my entire phone, I can remotely lock my phone, ring my phone, erase my phone, I can use Cortana on my PC to send a text from my phone. Still, I can't rename a folder on my phone through a hard cable. Over a solid copper cable connected physically, like together and all.

I've stopped worrying about this and started smiling after writing these two paragraphs. Its more like a comedy now. To all the people who have replied here, go home, forget this. Go on Reddit or 9gag, read some funny stuff.

Also, it depends on the processing capability of the device that's attached on your computer. Especially, MTP has a slower transfer process compare to the USB flash drives and has its own operating system which also affects when you're renaming a folder. To ensure that the changes you're trying to accomplish on your device will be completed, we need to wait for a period of time to complete the process.

Is 30 minutes enough? That's the longest I've waited before I pulled the plug. If it takes more than that, then that system is broken. I can do a rename on Ubuntu's file manager and in fact, the protocol you people created, works better on Linux. Between a Linux distribution and Android - which has a Linux Kernel - It's faster file transfers and the file transfer window even shows the copying speed. On Windows 10 to Windows 10 mobile, Its slower and I cannot even rename an effing folder. No excuse can be good enough for that.

And to all the people who says "List is the way", please. There is no easy out. Its not even a temporary solution like some people said here. The only way this worked for me is, after the explorer hangs, force close it and reopen the folder. It'll work fine till you disconnect the phone again. Doesn't matter if you have list mode or thumbnail mode or whatever. So what happens there? The explorer suddenly decided it didn't need to check all the file contents? Or did it choose to ignore the protocol's so called dedicated operating system behavior?

Sorry to be this rude, but you people have been given more than enough time to fix a silly problem like this. Its not like its a third party software, is it? its your OS on the source, its your OS on the client device, its your effing protocol. Even the phone's memory card is formatted to the filesystem created by you guys. What else do you need?

I usually don't snap like this, and am pretty curious to know what's behind a problem that I'm having, but this has gotten way out of hand. I just want it to stop. Don't care how, don't wanna know how it came to be, I just want it stopped.

I also don't want another session of log taking on my PC. I have got no time for that. You people tried that more than once on me, to read about that magical story, please go through this thread again. Look for a post made on April 28 2014, Yes, that was more than two years ago.
