nVidia graphic card does not show up in device manager, unable to update drivers

Original Title: NVidia graphic card disappeared

Before three weeks ago, I connected my two laptops via network sharing (but it didn't work) . After that my laptop (ASUS X52J with nVidia GeForce 310M) did not respond, it restarted. But with some errors. After that my laptop didn't detect nVidia card (detected only Intel graphic card). I uninstalled my drivers and tried to installed. But it occurred error..

"This graphic driver could not find compatible graphic hardware"

And Device manager also didn't detect the nVidia adapter..what should i do now..Please Help

    Hey Bruce, so I have an Alienware as well and when I go to my device manager it only shows the Intel 4600 as the display adapter. When I go to view on the toolbar and click show hidden hardware, i can see the Nvidia graphics card appear but I don't know what to do from this point. I don't know anything about BIOS or how to revert to an old one. All I know is I can't seem to download Nvidia drivers or the program. Can you guys help?

    Hi there, don't make the same mistake i did.. I don't know if its the same for you but search ur keyboard looking for a gpu. If you press it you should see a screen. It would say switch between concrete and discrete graphics or something like that. Restard your computer and it will be fixed. I hope this helps otherwise you are dealing with a different problem.

    Howdy,

    I ran into this issue today. Brought my ASUS Laptop out of sleep and found a black screen. Didn't think anything of it and forced a shut down. Now, I'm noticing my NVIDIDA GeForce GTX 860M is not being detected or activated. I ran Method 1 and found no answer, Method 2 now shows my GeForce 860m as visible in my device manager and it shows this: 

    Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)

    To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer.

    What do I do from here? Just right click and uninstall? Reinstall from the Nvidia website?

    When it asks me to uninstall, do I delete the driver software from that device?

    Hello,

    I have the original Alienware 17 from back in 2013. I recently upgraded to Windows 10, and my nVidia GeForce GTX 770M disappeared from Control Panel and Device Manager. However, for the last month, all was well.

    I tried all things I could think of and read about on the Internet to no avail for any option. All it would show is Microsoft Basic Adapter, or Intel 4600. Since Microsoft Windows 10 users do not have the option of choosing which updates to perform if they do not have Windows 10 Pro, I noticed the latest update installed BIOS version A14. 

    Once I downloaded A13, and the GeForce 355.60 driver for Windows 10 64-bit computers, I reverted back to A13, and the computer detected the nVidia again.

    Just thought this might help for those users who have recently experienced this on Windows 10 with an Alienware laptop or desktop.
