Hi Jarred,
- What is the make and model of the PC?
- Are you able to boot to the desktop normally?
You received this message because a device driver installed on your computer caused the Windows operating system to stop unexpectedly. It may very well be a defective video card driver issue.
I would suggest you to follow these steps and check.
a. Press Windows key + Xfrom desktop and choose Device Manager.
b.
Check if you are seeing a yellow exclamation next to
Display Adapaters.
c. If you find a yellow exclamation mark, then can right-click on the device and click on
Properties to check the device status for any error.
I would suggest you to update the video card driver and also other drivers which are failing from manufacturer's website.
Download and install drivershttp://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/all-drivers
Let us know if it helps. If the issue persists, please reply, we will be glad to assist you further.
Hi,
It's now been over a year since I made the mistake of saying ok to the Windows 8.1 upgrade. Windows 8 always worked fine for me, my computer was fast, and I never had any startup issues.
However, ever since this "upgrade" was installed, startup takes around ten minutes, my windows media server has stopped working and I've tried every fix listed on this thread, plus a few more besides, and this issue is still occurring.
Consequently I now have a computer that I bought brand new just over a year ago that is significantly worse than the one it was meant to replace.
So far, the only action taken by Microsoft on this seems to be to try and place the blame on the companies who provided the video cards. It's not good enough for a company whose product should be compatible with these video cards in the first place.
Someone from Microsoft needs to take a bit of responsibility and fix this problem once and for all, or refund those who have been affected by this issue.
Pretty f**ked off about this.
