Not quite the same error, but a lot of us are also getting a different error message  and code (http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/winphone/forum/wpdp-wpupdate/0x80188308-error-when-installing-windows-phone-81/da5aca97-0879-483c-bf72-2733ee833499?page=3&tm=1407186465356#LastReply)

Just to report I also have the same issue on a Nokia Lumia 920, UK, EE network, running Windows Phone 8.1 Dev preview, and Nokia Black firmware

    Nokia Lumia 920

    Lumia Black

    Manufacturer ID: RM-821_eu_euro1_342

    ConfigID: 373342

    OS Version: 8.10.12397.895

Update downloads, reboots, shows cogs for maybe 1 min, the resets the phone, and I get the error

Here's a pic I posted to Joe Belfiore

    http://t.co/zZhJwapcAt

My work colleague sat next to me updated his Lumia 1520, BLack firmware, and also running Windows Phone 8.1 dev preview, just fine?

Why does mine not work? Lots of people are reporting this issue on the WP Central forums!

I've tried 6 or 7 times now over about 5 hours. Soft reset, clear temp cache, and IE cache doesn't work.

I had my phone set to US previously to use the US Cortana, but reverted back to the UK about 2 weeks ago in preparation for the official UK Cortana rollout .

I also used the phone search feature to get into COrtana settings to clear any old cortana data in case that was messing up the install.

    No joy!

    Please fix

    Glenn
