If you do not see the Windows 8.1 update in the Windows Store, here are some of the reasons.  You can find more details here on why you may not be seeing the Windows 8.1 update.

  1.  You may be running an edition of Windows 8 that doesn’t support the update from the Store.

   a. If you’re running Windows 8.1 Preview, here’s how to update to the final version.

   b. If you’re running Windows Enterprise Edition or Volume License version of Windows Pro.  You must speak to your system administer to learn how to update.

If you are not sure, the following steps will help you identify if you have a Volume License version of Windows:

  • Open the run dialog box by using the Windows Key + R
  • Type the following and press enter   slmgr.vbs /dli
  • You will see a window titled Windows Script Host.
  • On the first line you should see either “RETAIL channel” or “Volume Channel”

If it says something that resembles Volume, you won’t be able to get it through the store and will need to talk to your system administrator about their plans for rolling out this update based on the Volume License agreement through the

Volume Licensing Service Center (VLSC).  If you are the system administrator or the person responsible for your company’s computers, you should refer to this article for information on how to upgrade.

  c. If you’re using a Multiple Activation Product Key through a Commercial or MSDN contact.   To install the update, you need to use media obtained through those programs.

  1. You have not installed all pending Windows Updates.  You can find details here on which update is needed to see the Windows 8.1 update.

If you are having issues with installing Windows Update we recommend you post for help with that issue.

You may also attempt an automated fix by running the Windows Update troubleshooter

  1. You need to sync your App License; you can do this by:
  • On the Start screen, tap or click Store to open the Windows Store.
  • Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Settings.

(If you're using a mouse, point to the lower-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer up, and then click Settings.)

  • Tap or click App updates
  • Tap or click Sync licenses
  1. The Windows Store Catalog is not refreshing correctly.

To refresh the catalog, try pressing the Windows and R key together to open the run box, type WSReset.exe and hit Enter.  Reboot and check the Windows Store again.

Microsoft has released a troubleshooter to help find problems that may prevent you from updating to Windows 8.1.

You can try this troubleshooter here.

    Hello,

So sorry to disturb you but, after searching and searching for 4 solid hours I still cannot find the Service Pack for Windows 8.1

As of today when I was doing bi-daily maintenance on my lap-top I received a message telling me that I have a performance issue. The message informed me that I do not have any Service Packs installed on my new Toshiba lap top. My lap top is 3 possibly 4 months old and I'm always watching what's being updated and I'm always tweaking my computer for the best performance possible.

Here's the following information that I'm sure if I don't provide you'll then ask me for -

    TOSHIBA

    Serial #: 5D063249M

    is available for this                                                                                                                     Display

Computer name, domain, and workgroup settings

    Computer name:  MachineHeadBedroomSkull1

    Full computer name: MachineHeadBedroomSkull1

    Windows is activated

    Product ID:  00179-60694-93381-AAOEM

As of now I'm going to have to get into doing some reading. I don't have the time for reading because I'm constantly under the clock having to meet the daily deadline to submit my art work every evening. If it is at all possible can someone please send me a link on getting the necessary Service Pack/packs for my Toshiba lap top?

    My e-mail address is ******@bellsouth.net

If you cannot send me a link please advise with instructions on how I can improve the performance on my computer. I thank you for your time and I look forward to getting this issue resolved ASAP.

Don't really understand it is there a easy way instead because I have to accounts and can not get rid of my second account

    @AC100_755

Please take your time reading as it sounds a lot more complicated than it actually is in real terms of completing. (Create a System Restore Point before and then any issues you have can be easily undone.)

Firstly, "We" were not discussing the issue of deleting any Accounts, As the steps above are for you to Create/Change to an Administrator Account. The only steps to complete this task are either to Elevate your existing Account to Administrator using User Accounts settings or create a new one. (to which I was merely pointing out, if this is your Microsoft Account that you use daily, then you should not run this Account with Administrator Privileges. Better to create a New Account with Administrator Privileges or elevate an existing Local Account to have Administrator Privileges, by following the same steps.)

After you have set up all your Accounts and are confident, then using your Administrator Account you can remove/delete any Accounts you no longer wish or need. (Just remember toBack Up any important files first.) If one of the old Accounts you no longer wish to keep, is an Administrator Privilege one. I would recommend to De-elevate the Account to a Standard Account first before deleting.

    Hope this helps

    Have a great day!

I downloaded the Windows 8 release onto a USB drive when I bought it.

    Running slmgr /dli reports:

    Name: Windows(R), ProfessionalWMC edition

Description: Windows(R) Operating System, RETAIL channel

    Partial Product Key: TCKWD

    License Status: Licensed.

I too am unable to find Windows 8.1 on the Microsoft Store, what can I do to get the update?
