Event 7001 in the Event Viewer

Reset the BIOS to default settings.

Access the BIOS and check that all drives are being recognised. Do not tinker with settings any more!

Where do i find this info... i am in the bios

The boot order is

Notebook hard drive

Internal cd/dvd rom drive

Usb diskette

Usb cd/dvd rom

Etc..

Tried to run (one more time) the BIOS primary HD Short and Long self test -the computer froze on me while the test was executing and had reached 68% completion

No mater if its Normal or Safe mode or Last Known Good Configuration

Seems i 'm at a dead end... and aflicted by terrible problems (i write this from my tablet)

I THOUGHT SAFE MODE WAS CREATED TO ENSURE THAT, NO MATTER WHAT, THE COMPUTER WOULD START AND OPERATE IN A SAFE ENVIRONMENT.. THE WORD SAFE MEANS NO FREEZES NO HUNGS NOOOOO PROBLEMS...................

I will look into what you suggest but in the meantime I have picked up two points to hopefully resolve errors in the Event Viewer system log.

Click on the Start button and select Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services. Locate Windows Search in the list. Change the StartUp type to Automatic (Delayed Start). If it is not set to Automatic (Delayed Start), right click and select Properties, General tab. There is a box after StartUp type. The options are available on a drop down by clicking on the arrow down to the right of the box. Make the change and click on Apply and OK. Restart the computer and check whether it has started.

It is difficult to be certain but my feeling is that your system might benefit from additional RAM. Ideally you need a reasonable reserve of available RAM to cope with demands for memory, as otherwise you have bottleneck causing the system to use the pagefile. Using the pagefile is slower than using RAM so the user sees the system slowing down and this can / will results in freezes.

The difficulty in judging the amount of RAM required is firstly how to determine normal RAM usage, as mostly users can only do spot checks. Secondly unless you have a detailed list of installed and, likely to be installed software, and how often it is to be used it is difficult to determine the likely peak in demand. Another problem is that some users do too much multi-tasking and leave programmes open when they do not need to do so. All these factors should be taken into account.

The two suggestions above will hopefully help with the normally to be expected peak demand toward the end of the boot. Please allow 2/3 hours for the system to run before uploading further information so that the impact of making changes can become apparent. Restart your computer twice during this time.

To access the System log select Start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Event Viewer, from the list in the left side of the window select Windows Logs and System. Place the cursor on System, select Action from the Menu and Save All Events as (the default evtx file type) and give the file a name. Do the same for the Applications log. Do not provide filtered files.
