Have done everything, everyone has suggested in this multi page thread. Same failure at the same point 50% every time.
Don't understand having to go through the store. Just give us a file.

I also have this problem, have had these error codes, 0x8007025D 0x2000C and 0x80240031. Why hasn't this been resolved yet? I even tried downloading the ISO, and manually reinstalling Windows 8.1, I still get this error during the install, and then it boots me back to my old installation. Please help..
Edit: Now I have tried doing a Refresh and Reset of my Windows 8 version, but this is crashing also. Tried booting from my Windows 8 DVD to do a automatic repair this also failed. I get som kind of critical driver error...
FIXED! 2 issues to look at. 1st, make sure all the updates for 8.0 have been installed. 2nd, and this is what fixed it for me...turn off any security software you have running. Once I shut off Defender, the download went through. Checking compatibility takes a long time, but ultimately I got 8.1 installed.
This worked for me. Have no idea why Windows defender would be blocking a download FROM Microsoft but that did it for me. I have anothe machine that was having issues with, if we have success this may be the problem.... they may have to send an update for defender to allow the 8.1 update.... once again kind of stupid fix, but it worked for me.
