Adobe Acrobat on Windows 8.1

Installed adobe acrobat 7.0 pro on windows 8.1 machine. Everything seemed to install correctly but when I try launching the program i get a message:

Acrobat.exe - application error

The applicalication was unable to start correctly (0xc00000fd). Click OK to close the application.

Please help!

I have just waded through all of those updates 1 at a time and if you un-install KB2917929 it will solve the problem. Believe it or not Microsoft call it a compatibility update!!!!

Fantastic and it works like a charm.

You do have to go back and TURN OFF your automatic updates as I came down the next morning and it had replaced that update. Now it is set to NOTIFY but DO NOT INSTALL.

Then today I went to upgrade the software on my Xperia Z Tablet (that is Android) and the PC would not let me do it unless I installed the 7929 upgrade. I connected to my LapTop with WIN7 only and the Android upgrade worked perfectly. So why did Microsoft make it so I could not upgrade on my WIN8.1 system without that upgrade/patch? They are up to something!
