2014-09-25T20:49:20+00:00 Having read loads of speculation about a window newbie currently being referred to as Windows Nine .
Being disabled and dyslexic ( medically induced ) I sincerely look forward to a less pictorial presentation for finding things than the win 8 & 8.1. for those of us who still use coal fired steam powered stand alone PC's and need a massive screen to be able to read & conprehend what's being shown on the laptop .
My keyboard is an ancient one that was most likely found in king TUT's tomb , for there is a funny thing called a wire that ties it to the computer to stop it floating off into cyber world .
I use a Wi-Fi mouse , for the only way I can sit at the computer is for me to lean over the specially made higher then average work station supporting myself on ribs and elbows , playing on a slidey /touch screen is a miserable experience for me.
I'm currently using Star doc 8 to get the older vista type view where I can see at a glance where things are and what I have on the desk top.
Like several have said I'd like to keep that capability too , having it in a new windows version as an alternative that's easily found would be fantastic for I'm sure there are zillions like me who whilst are reasonably computer literate can't handle the 8 or 8.1 versions for various reasons.
( I cut my computer teeth on a Rockwell Aim 65 using machine code only .
Running the programmes to operate a food canning factory and also a 1600 take off point ( properties ) communal heating system.
I also had IBM PS1 & 2 computers before the internet arrived , had an email addy but no one to talk to once it had arrived . In those days of the floppy 4 inch disc I could type faster than the computer could handle it .
These days I play at a bit of photography as a ( sanity ) hobby , the Win 8 & 8.1 files for it are horrific . I'm totally incompetent at using it .
Especially when I'm after a long list of old stuff stored on my external HD's .. Star doc 8 came to the rescue .
Here in the UK we have a very old proverb related to AESOPPS fables , that says more haste , lless speed & another that I had drilled into my bone dome time and time again for 64 or so years that says get it right and get it right first time .
Perhaps MS has not heard of these sayings yet .

2014-09-25T06:00:32+00:00 Please do not chop up my posts. And, yes, I know how to "fix" Windows 8 in order to get the "feel" of Windows 7 back.
Thank you.
