Kernel error 41

Hi, for about 9 months now I'm experiencing kernel 41 errors. I got them about once or twice a month, but this month they happened already 6 times. I have a VAIO notebok VPCF23C5E with a 500 GB SSD drive with Win7 Pro SP1 German. I constantly use my notebook between 10-12 hours a day and work a lot with Photoshop, InDesign and Visual Studio. When the system crashes I'm doing nothing special, just clicking somewhere. The crashes never appeared on high loads, like copying a terabyte hard drive or heavy work in Photoshop. Normally I'm just writing an email or clicking in a program. Once the system just turned off without a blue screen. The bugcheck codes vary:

0, 0x0000001A, 0x00000050, 0x000000D1,0x0000010D, 0x0000000A, 0x0000001E

I have no clue where to start searching. I run the sony hardware tests and they reported no error.

All Windows and Sony updates are installed. The only non-Sony driver I have installed is the NVIDIA graphics driver. I know I updated it before, but can't recall when. I think I tried it as a solution for the crashes. I updated the driver again about a week ago after the crashes became more, but the crashes still happen.

If I can't find a solution I have to get the computer to Sony repair to check the hardware soroughly. I might be HW, but it could also be a driver issue. I just have tons of timely work to do and really can't be without the computer for days. So if anybody has an idea or even better a process how to pinpoint the source of the crashes I would be very thankful.

Cheers Marcus

    Hi Gerry,

I have an iPhone via T-Mobile Germany and I have a memory stick from T-Mobile that I used frequently, but use just once in a while in the meanwhile. Recently the T-Mobile Internet Manager software that comes with the stick crashes sometimes even the stick is not installed. (Last December I switched my Internet connection provider. Telekom messed it up big and it took almost 6 month to get me a working telephone and Internet connection. At this time I got my Internet connection via that stick. I also use it when I'm on the road and the hotel doesn't offer Internet or only paid Internet.)

The crashes started in January according to the log. If the log was not deleted the stick drivers might be the cause. Since I don't need it right now I will try to deinstall the stick.

    Cheers Marcus

Please provide a copy of your System Information file. Type System Information in the Search Box above the start Button and press the ENTER key. Select File, Export and give the file a name noting where it is located. The system creates a new System Information file each time system information is accessed. You need to allow a minute or two for the file to be fully populated before exporting a copy. Please upload to your Sky Drive, share with everyone and post a link here. Please say if the report has been obtained in safe mode.

Please upload and share with everyone copies of your System and Application logs from your Event Viewer to your Sky Drive and post a link here.

To access the System log select Start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Event Viewer, from the list in the left side of the window select Windows Logs and System. Place the cursor on System, select Action from the Menu and Save All Events as (the default evtx file type) and give the file a name. Do the same for the Applications log. Do not provide filtered files.

    Hi Marcus,

To add onto Gerry's question, NETIO.sys crashes usually come with a DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (d1) bug check. NETIO.sys is the Network I/O Subsystem and in almost all cases is caused by one of two things:

    1. Network drivers themselves needing to be updated.
    2. 3rd party antivirus or firewall software causing conflicts, also possible any other network related software or devices are as well. It's possible the one that Gerry caught may be causing issues.

#1, are your drivers up to date from your manufacturers website?

#2, do you have any antivirus or firewall software installed?

If the answers are yes to #1 and no to #2 and Gerry's question turns out to be another dead end, my best suggestion at this point is to do a CLEAN install of Windows. If you still continue to crash after that and no dumps are generated, replace and or have the system repaired.

    Regards,

    Patrick

    Hi Patrick,

I'm sorry that I didn't follow up with you anymore. I'm working around the clock to keep some major deadlines. For the past three weeks i had no issues. Now in two days I had 4 kernel 41 crashes. The system still doesn't create any dump files. I blue screen disapears in seconds. I was able to glimps netio.sys this time. The blue screen doesn't stay and the system doesn't reboot automatically.

    Cheers (with frustration)

    Marcus
