Weather gadget not working- Cannot connect to service

And Win8 got ABSOLUTELY NUTTING to do with THIS thing that ONLY happend to Win7 after like Feb. 1, 2015!

LEARN to READ First, Answer Later, and keep an Eye on the DATES of the post you are answering, and you'll save a hell lot of people a hell lot of Unnecessasy Trouble! 

You need to stop chastising everyone who replies to this thread about it being a "two year old post".  Who cares how old it is?  Obviously, this issue is something that a lot of people care about and you pointing out how illiterate they are for not being able to understand a date isn't changing that, apparently.  No one who has responded here is a kindergarten child.  We all know how to read and can do simple math to know how old a thread is.  If you're so upset and worked up about how stupid everyone here is then stop reading the thread.  Plain and simple.  Save yourself the frustration.

What would have saved a hell of lot of people a hell of a lot of unnecessary trouble is if Microsoft would have alerted users that the gadgets were a "safety risk", told us all of the information necessary to make an informed decision and then given us the choice to disable them completely as MS would have recommended or proceed at our own risk and continue using them with no help from MS if something happened. 

I keep my computers up to date at all times.  I never had a single problem with the weather gadget on my W7 desktop until I factory reset the machine a couple of weeks ago.  My W7 Alienware laptop runs the same gadget and it works perfect.  I have a Dell W8 laptop that is running the exact same weather gadget that is on W7 thanks so a little tweaking with Classic Shell and a couple third party programs.  (Can't stand W8.)  The gadget works beautifully on W8.  The gadget updates the weather exactly as it always did on both the Dell and the Alienware.  It hasn't stopped, or even hiccupped, even once no matter how many Windows updates I've installed on both machines.   My desktop, that's another story.  Every single time I update windows or have to re-start the machine for whatever reason, it kills the weather gadget.   I'll try changing the date and hope that works.

Sorry for being so stupid--again--and replying to a thread that is how old??  ;) 

From one West Virginian to another.  Forget the weather gadget and move to Florida.  It gets cold here but only one time in 30 years has it got down that low (5 degrees).  But it never stays cold.

In my experience, when one of the Weather Gadgets works, they all do.

Try creating a new one and setting the location to Raleigh, WV (25871).
