Hi Ian,

Welcome to the Microsoft Community forums where you can find answers to all your Windows related queries.

We can’t import contacts directly to the People app from a CSV file. However, if you visit http://people.live.com/ you can import the contacts through manage option. You can refer these steps:

a) Visit http://people.live.com/ and login with the same Microsoft ID that you have synced with the People app

b) Click on “Manage” on the top and click on “Add people”

c) Click on “import from a file”

d) Browse and import the CSV file from your computer

Note: It might take some time for the contacts to be updated in the People app in your computer.

    There are a lot of blotches in the Windows apps, that Microsoft needs to fix, all new apps have to support previous Live Mail and Outlook Express formats.

    It's also impossible to import any contacts from Live Mail or Outlook/Outlook Express into SKYPE!

    Internet Explorer Metro (8.1) won't function properly without continual resetting every few days it's in serous need of a patch!

    This process does not import the e-mail addresses only the name.   The People app will not match the fields.   It does not work!

    But my file is a WAB file from Outlook Express.  How can I get Outlook Express contacts into my People App?

    Hey Guys!

    I was trying to import my contacts - CSV file created via samsung kies to my windows 8 phone.

    But only the names appeared, without the phone numbers and email ids.

    I figured out this is a CSV format style issue.

    "The problem here is the difference in CSV format styles created by Samsung Kies and Windows."

    Problem : Find out the CSV format, compatible to Windows 8

    Solution:

    (1) I manually saved 5 contacts directly to live contacts and I exported these 5 contacts as a CSV via my live account.

    (2) BINGO!! the exported file with manually saved contacts gave me the format style which windows will accept.

    (3) Open your Samsung Kies-CSV file and copy the names, paste them in the name column of Windows - CSV file ( which you created by exporting the manually saved contacts)

    (4) Copy the numbers and email ids  from your samsung kies- CSV file -- paste them in the number and email column in the Windows- CSV file

    (5) save the file.

    (6) Import this file to Live - People tab.

    there you go!!

    You can thank me now ;)
