Hi getting above message with device manager for this hardware TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-H653N ATA

Ive tried running the Microsoft trouble shooter but this doesn't help any ideas? Running Windows 8 thanks

Can you check the following registry key?:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

At that registry key, in the right window, is there, under "Name", either an UpperFilters or LowerFilters value?

If so, for each of the UpperFilters and/or LowerFilters value, what is listed under "Data"?

    Hello JoeCrichton,

    Thanks for the reply.  Several days after my posting I found another posting by someone suggesting removing a Samsung media application that had caused the same error on her computer.  I decided to try it, removed the app and now my DVD player works perfectly.  Thanks again for your reply.

    Thank you for your concern and your mail.

    I followed Toshiba support instructions for Windows 10:

    -Erase from installed programs "Toshiba Recovery Media Center" and "Toshiba Disc Creator"- I did it, and the problem was fixed after restarting my laptop!

    I'm able to temporarily correct the problem when I log in as a local Admin, uninstall device in Device Manager, run Scan for Hardware Changes and the drive then reappears and reads discs. Once I restart PC the problem is back.
