Hi getting above message with device manager for this hardware TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-H653N ATA

Ive tried running the Microsoft trouble shooter but this doesn't help any ideas? Running Windows 8 thanks

Can you check the following registry key?:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

At that registry key, in the right window, is there, under "Name", either an UpperFilters or LowerFilters value?

If so, for each of the UpperFilters and/or LowerFilters value, what is listed under "Data"?

    Mine too, though I noticed a value in there which mentioned "AnyDVD" - a piece of software I've only just installed. Seems it was interfering with my DVD burner.

    I uninstalled the optical drive in Device Manager, then uninstalled AnyDVD and hit F5 on the registry. The "AnyDVD" reference disappeared, and then scanning for hardware changes in Device Manager immediately found/reinstalled the DVD drive again and it was functioning perfectly.

    So, it's possible a third-party program has messed with that key - recommend uninstalling any DVD-related software you've recently installed and see if that helps. =)

    This has occurred to me as well. I installed AnyDVD and for sure, I lost my blu-ray drives. Both had yellow bangs in the device manager. I tried to disable and then re-enable the devices, but each attempt had failed to resolved the issue. After uninstalling AnyDVD, both drives were back online. So this is a problem with AnyDVD. Not cool on AnyDVD's part. I will see if AnyDVD tech support has a solution. I'll get back with you guys if I find something.

    Worked we for me on an old laptop I just upgraded to Windows 10. Deleted the odd text in the LowerFilter, uninstalled the driver, rebooted the computer to installed the driver and the drive is working properly again. Thanks! :)

    Deleting the keys did the trick!  (both upper and lower filters).  CD/DVD back on re-boot.  Running Win7, 64bit.
