Error Code: 0xc0000034 in Windows 8 - Boot Configuration Data file missing required information

As per the issue, you get an error message “boot configuration data file is missing some required information” along with the error code “0xc0000034” when you boot to the computer.

I would like to gather some information on this issue to get a clear picture:

Did you make any hardware or software changes to the computer prior to this issue?

Perhaps, Windows boot files might be missing which are important to boot into the computer.

Let’s try Automatic Repair for Windows 8 on the computer and check if it can resolve the issue.

You may follow the methods:

Method 1: Booting to Recovery Environment with Windows 8 installation media.

Please follow the steps given below. Insert the Windows 8 installation DVD in the DVD ROM and restart your computer.

a) After you boot your computer using Windows 8 DVD or System Repair Disc, a black screen appears with gray text "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD". Press any key.

b) Select the correct time and Keyboard type.

c) Click Repair your computer in the lower left corner.

d) Select Troubleshoot from Choose an optionscreen.

e) Click Advanced options in Troubleshoot screen.

f) Click Automatic Repair from Advanced Options screen.

g) Next, choose the operating system by clicking on its button.

h) Windows 8 will look for problems on hard drive(s) and verify that all required files are intact.

Method 2: If automatic repair doesn’t help to repair the startup files, you may try to repair them using these commands through Command Prompt under Advance Options.

Refer to the steps:

a) After you boot your computer using Windows 8 DVDor System Repair Disc, a black screen appears with gray text "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD". Press any key.

b) Select the correct time and Keyboard type.

c) Click Repair your computer in the lower left corner.

d) Select Troubleshoot from Choose an optionscreen.

e) Click Advanced options in Troubleshoot screen.

f) Click on command Prompt.

g) Type these following commands and hit enter after each line of command:

Bootrec /fixmbr

Bootrec /fixboot

Bootrec /scanos

Bootrec /rebuildbcd

Hello. None of the methods helps and i have system repair disc. With first method it can start working but then after shutting down that error shows up again

Silvez, I'm assuming you did not make a recovery file USB?  If you have a friend with the same operating system, 8, 8.1, 32 bit, 64 bit, then use his computer and make the recovery file USB.  Then insert the USB into your computer and start it.  If your computer is setup to boot from a USB it should start to go.  If not you will have to do the F2, F12 prompt on start and set your computer to look for the USB temporarily.  Once you have the operating system working, then go back and change back to looking for the hard drive.  I advise you to make notes as you do this if you're not familiar doing this and to remember the boot information.

A second way that I used (assuming you are familiar with laptop components and removing them) temporarily exchange your hard drive with a friend's who has the same configuration of Windows (8, 8.1, 32 bit, 64 bit) and install it in your laptop.  Start it up, it should operate because its looking on his hard drive for the boot information.  Do a couple of operations, opening files, programs, etc.  Then close them and shut down.  As it shuts down and saves the information, at least for me, it saves the correct BCD file information to your laptop.  Replace your hard drive and restart the laptop.

If none of this works for you, then your last option is to remove your hard drive and install it as a second drive in a friend's computer or as a backup hard drive.  Search through your hard drive in this configuration and find all the files, etc, you want to save and copy them to the friend's hard drive.  Re-install your hard drive in your laptop and reload your Windows program ( you can download it from Microsoft if you don't have the DVD).  Of course it will reformat the drive but you have an operating Windows and you will have to reload your other programs and use a USB drive or memory card to recover your files from the friends computer.

Although I got my laptop to operate for awhile, the problem repeated and so after repairing it the second time I took advantage of Microsoft's offer to upgrade to Windows 10 and have not had this problem since.  It might be a good idea for you to do the same the, first time you get your laptop running.

I have the same problem, but my notebook positivo bgh c 500, doesn't have any instalation device, only a microsoft code, how can I solve it?
