Photos App in 8.1 loses most of its best features e.g. Facebook/Flickr support...

EDIT: October 18 – This has been edited to reflect the Windows 8.1 and Windows RT 8.1 official RTM/GA release.

I've just installed the 8.1 Preview on a desktop. EDIT: 10/17/2013-this is also true for RTM. The Photos App has changed:

  1. No longer includes the ability to show images from Facebook, Flickr, SkyDrive

  1. Does have some new editing features

 3. Live Tile functionality has disappeared.

Tiles are working, but images change only 1x per day. This needs to be a shorter period.

    Wow, this really is disappointing!  The ONLY reason I used the Pictures app was to get an aggregated view of all my photos across the various services they were stored on, like Facebook, NAS, SkyDrive, other PCs etc.  That was, I thought, the whole point?  As Ryan says the Pictures app on Win Phone 8 is awesome, and it's where I go to show People my FB photos even thought I have several FB apps......it's just easier.....all my photos are there and I can quickly switch between showing FB photos to SkyDrive photos etc, without switching apps.  That was the beauty - flexibility & choice.   Please bring it back in RTM!

    There is basically no reason to use the photo app unless you take picks with your surface or save images to the device locally.

    Carmen,

    I strongly disagree, and even if you don't aggregate photos into one app. It NEEDS to read photos over the network from a shared folder or it is worse than useless.

    And if I want to display photos on the lock screen or something, then if they aren't considered in my Photos collection, then how the heck will they show up? Why lobotomize an app that was working fine in the previous version???

    The new "lack of" functionality / connectivity moves this app to the delete category.  Here is one more vote of disappointment in this change.
