Photos App in 8.1 loses most of its best features e.g. Facebook/Flickr support...

EDIT: October 18 – This has been edited to reflect the Windows 8.1 and Windows RT 8.1 official RTM/GA release.

I've just installed the 8.1 Preview on a desktop. EDIT: 10/17/2013-this is also true for RTM. The Photos App has changed:

  1. No longer includes the ability to show images from Facebook, Flickr, SkyDrive

  1. Does have some new editing features

 3. Live Tile functionality has disappeared.

Tiles are working, but images change only 1x per day. This needs to be a shorter period.

    It's pretty clear that the 1Tb Flickr'free storage doesn't push us to buy SkyDrive storage!

    But suppressing access ti Flick through the Photo App is pretty unfair from Microsoft.

    Please bring back this feature!

    And by the way improve local NAS storage as well!

     

    I was almost to the point not to update to 8.1 just because of that unfair move.

     

    After updating one computer and seeing the many bug, problems, and "features", I decided I can't upgrade other machines....especially my tablet since I use the now-removed networking features.

    I have been fairly loyal to Microsoft, even when they have been playing catch up. I have been betting that the OS and the apps would keep on getting better and better, quickly adding new features and capabilities and catching up with the competition.

    I have been disappointed by several changes the Microsoft has made where things have gone backwards. This has shaken my trust in Microsoft.

    Loss of features in the photo app, and inability to use file history with SkyDrive are 2 such backward steps.

    If you drop down the 'Pictures Library /' on the top of the Photo Library, you will find SkyDrive as a place to browse.

    I'm with you. The surface is a beautiful piece of hardware and MS seem to be doing almost everything right.

    I'm very angry they removed flickr, I loved the intergration and upgraded my flickr account as a result.

    Sucks because the IE updates are nice.

    The integration of all my photos from local and internet sites shown in photos app was one of the greatest things about Windows 8, then MS removes that beautiful philosophy with 8.1. It is infuriating. Why? Why, Microsoft? Why is it always one step forward one step back with you guys?
