As I suspect you fear, Carmen Zlateff is apparently a Principal Lead Program Manager at Microsoft, and has been working in the area of digital photo applications for some time... Your reply frankly terrifies me. If Microsoft employees with a direct (and by your inference, senior) input into software design decisions are replying in this manner, then we are lost. Her reply, in my opinion, is rather disingenuous; integration was added due to a lack of photo apps at the start? I'm sorry, but I don't see this integration feature being ripped out of Windows Phone. That platform was starting from scratch and had no existing user base unlike Windows. Come to think of it, the Windows 8 Photos app is clearly derived from the Windows Phone Photos Hub. Therefore I can only surmise that removal of the integration feature was down to external pressure. i.e. Facebook.

You seem to be trying to force things on the public that the public do not want or like (referring to the recent XBOX One (joke) launch & Windows 8's unintuitive UI). BUT then you (Microsoft) seem to take away things the public do like. This is the case here... WE DO NOT WANT an app for facebook photos and a separate app for Flickr photos and another for SkyDrive. WE WANT a single photos app that can show all of our albums regardless of which service is hosting them. If I wanted to have a mess of apps for every single service I would go and buy and Apple product. If Microsoft don't soon stop this nonsense path they're on I will be boycotting any Windows 8 version and go back to Windows 7 until they get their act together. Something for you to think about... You (Microsoft) need to start paying attention to your customers or you are going to lose out big time. Apple may not have the desktop computer marketshare but they are closing the gap, you (Microsoft) need to keep your customers on side and this is not the way to go about it. They want people to use their app. Note how the Windows Phone Facebook app which originally had a Metro interface, now has been changed to look and function exactly like the iOS and Android apps! Tiles are working, but images change only 1x per day. This needs to be a shorter period.
