I really hope they bring back facebook flickr and any other picture integration. I love that feature on windows phone and I love having it on my tablet and computer. taking those features away is backtracking.
Photos App in 8.1 loses most of its best features e.g. Facebook/Flickr support...
EDIT: October 18 – This has been edited to reflect the Windows 8.1 and Windows RT 8.1 official RTM/GA release.
I've just installed the 8.1 Preview on a desktop. EDIT: 10/17/2013-this is also true for RTM. The Photos App has changed:
- No longer includes the ability to show images from Facebook, Flickr, SkyDrive
<10/18/2013deleted missing networked computers issue - for information on how to include content from supported Windows computers on a home network, see http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki/windows8_1-pictures/add-network-folders-and-display-pictures-in-the/bf3252f8-9162-4129-8387-5367e24b5609 - note that many older versions of Windows are not supported and that there is no support for Linux based NAS devices>

- Does have some new editing features

3. Live Tile functionality has disappeared.

Edit: 7/04
Tiles are working, but images change only 1x per day. This needs to be a shorter period.

2013-07-03T19:10:04+00:00 Has anybody else managed to get "Available Offline" SkyDrive pictures/folders to show up in the Photos app (i.e. not just on the live tile)?
Nope. I have three locations defined for the Pictures Library:
- C:\Users\Geoff\Pictures (with two folders: Camera Roll and Test Folder)
- \Degas\Pictures (with several hundred top-level folders and 50,000+ photos)
- C:\Users\Geoff\SkyDrive (with 64 folders - some are marked for offline use)
If I open up the 8.1 Photos App, all I see are the two lonely folders in C:\Users\Geoff\Pictures. "Degas" is the name of my Windows Home Server 2011 system.

2013-07-03T19:12:26+00:00 My situation is the same. My SSD is C: and my data HDD is M:
In File Explorer, under "This PC" in the left navigation pane, I have selected the Pictures folder in the top portion of the right pane, right click, properties. Selected the Location tab and pointed the folder to my pictures folder on M: on my data HDD.
Under the Pictures Library, under properties, I have only included the pictures folder on my data HDD and the SkyDrive sync location for my Pictures folder on SkyDrive.
Everything shows up in my Photos App and none of it is stored on my C: drive.

2013-07-03T19:15:02+00:00 Okay, cheers. That's exactly the same setup and outcome as me. I'm very interested in seeing what Jason.S.55 has different, if anything, which has allowed SkyDrive pictures folders to be displayed.
