Photos App in 8.1 loses most of its best features e.g. Facebook/Flickr support...

EDIT: October 18 – This has been edited to reflect the Windows 8.1 and Windows RT 8.1 official RTM/GA release.

I've just installed the 8.1 Preview on a desktop. EDIT: 10/17/2013-this is also true for RTM. The Photos App has changed:

  1. No longer includes the ability to show images from Facebook, Flickr, SkyDrive

  1. Does have some new editing features

 3. Live Tile functionality has disappeared.

Tiles are working, but images change only 1x per day. This needs to be a shorter period.

    Right, but since Microsoft is not responding to the "missing functionality" discussion, if you want them to notice the points you raise about symlinks, crashing, etc., I encourage you to start a new thread.

    Edit:  The main thing I wanted to address was really just the issue of people stating that the Photos App doesn't even display content from your Pictures Library anymore.

    My situation is my Pictures Library points to a data drive (D: Drive) vs. my OS / Applications SSD drive (C: Drive).  In this situation, the Photo App does not see any of my pictures.  I can, however, click on a picture from my file browser and open it in the Photo App and proceed to scroll through my photos.  But if I click on the escape/back arrow to take me to the main page I get a message no photos can be found.

    This is bizarre. All my SkyDrive pictures are offline, I have added their location to the Pictures library, but they do not show up in the app at all. They do however show on the live tile, which makes it all the more baffling. Would you mind uploading a screenshot of your Pictures Library Locations screen (Pictures Library -> Manage Libraries) please?

    Has anybody else managed to get "Available Offline" SkyDrive pictures/folders to show up in the Photos app (i.e. not just on the live tile)?

    The biggest problem I now have (even though it is pretty basic) is the fact that I can't import my photos on my Surface RT without faffing around with the desktop or copy and pasting pictures manually. If you ask me, its pretty lame that even importing photos is now an after thought.

    Thought that Windows 8.1 was meant to be about fixing what was broken in Windows 8- not creating new bits to be broken.
