Photos App in 8.1 loses most of its best features e.g. Facebook/Flickr support...

Thanks for the feedback, everybody.  In Windows 8, we wanted to provide a way for folks to view their photos on other services knowing there would be few (if any) apps in the store at launch that would do so.  Now there are many apps in the store that offer ways to view photos on other services and soon there will even be a Facebook app from Facebook.  We’re confident Facebook will offer great ways to view and engage socially with photos on Facebook.  We welcome Flickflagr to do the same.  In addition, the People app still offers the ability to socially engage with your friends and even your own photos.

No offence, but this is a silly decision. The Photos app is now essentially useless to me. Why would you remove functionality from it? Users want more choice, not less, so it matters not to me that there are apps on the marketplace that offer similar functionality

• I want my Photos app to tap into my Facebook and SkyDrive photos so the tile itself is alive with my latest photos.

If this is something Microsoft won't move on, then this is a duff move, and literally the one thing about 8.1 that disappoints. Please consider switching back to the old Photos app.

Lets talk about surface flag ship hardware.  128 GB (less really) of storage that is now expected to store all images, videos, and documents. Removable media (micro SD) does not allow libraries unless you create a VD and mount as a work around. - Cripple Photo app by removing existing cloud storage and integration with social networks. Cripple people app by doing the same.  Change the search to also be crippled and less inclusive of the installed apps, unless they are running. Useless start menu. Useless. - I never wanted it back anyway. - let me turn it off please!!!! I want to view photos from social media all in one place, I want to see who is online and communicate all from one place, I want to search from one place and apply from one place rather than having to load the app I want to search in first.  If this is the preview of what is to come, I really don't want it. After two hours of frustration at taking away the features and functionality I loved the most, I ended up restoring my surface and reinstalling and setting up everything.  Not cool Microsoft.  The only new feature that makes sense to me is the ability to split the screen in half or in thirds or more depending on resolution and number of monitors attached. Bad moves.

My Facebook Pictures No Longer Show Up my pictures app, even though my Account is still synced. How can I get them back?

Really disappointed as well, now the photos app is completely useless:(

I would like to inform you that the photo app wont display the pictures from Facebook, Skydrive etc.

I'm running on a 1366x768 resolution

This resolution supports 4 rows of tiles.

The 'Shows more tiles' option only appears if your resolution allows for more than 6 rows. Once you passed 6, you can choose to have 6 maximum, or as many as the screen can fit.

What I was talking about was the thumbnails in the photos app, which shows 3 rows of thumbnails, despite the old app (which had the same size thumbnails) showing 4 rows on the same resolution.

The only setting available is 'Shuffle photos on the Photos tile'
