EDIT: October 18 – This has been edited to reflect the Windows 8.1 and Windows RT 8.1 official RTM/GA release.

I've just installed the 8.1 Preview on a desktop. EDIT: 10/17/2013-this is also true for RTM. The Photos App has changed:

  1. No longer includes the ability to show images from Facebook, Flickr, SkyDrive

  1. Does have some new editing features

 3. Live Tile functionality has disappeared.

Edit: 7/04

Tiles are working, but images change only 1x per day. This needs to be a shorter period.

I find it very disappointing that so much functionality was removed from this app.

The photo app without Skydrive, Homegroup and NAS becomes totally useless.

With the Windows 8 version of this app, I was able to store nearly 1TB of images on my computer and access these images from my Surface RT from any location where I had internet access.  Now I am limited to the handful of images I have locally on my Surface.  This change in the Photos app may have made sense if the SkyDrive app would allow access to remote machines like the SkyDrive web site does.

Photo App now it just show the folders that it wanted (?) in one of my computer it is showing all the dropbox folders, and in another one is showing some of the documents folders of my PC. In the former App we were able to choice between several folders. In this version I can not find how to do that. How I can?

    Hi,

I installed Windows 8 Pro x64 English US from the ISO file.

Then I switched the local account to my Microsoft Account and I added SkyDrive Pictures folder to Pictures library configuration.

I see all SkyDrive pictures and local pictures in Photos app live tile but inside Photos app I only see local (this PC) pictures and SkyDrive pictures are missing.

When I was setting up the slide show functionality, I noticed it launches a similar interface to the Photos app.  However, next to the "This PC" link there is a drop down where I can actually go and pick a location on SkyDrive.  Since the interface is so similar, this gives me hope that the app will have this functionality.  Maybe I am just getting my hopes up though.
