EDIT: October 18 – This has been edited to reflect the Windows 8.1 and Windows RT 8.1 official RTM/GA release.

I've just installed the 8.1 Preview on a desktop. EDIT: 10/17/2013-this is also true for RTM. The Photos App has changed:

  1. No longer includes the ability to show images from Facebook, Flickr, SkyDrive

  1. Does have some new editing features

 3. Live Tile functionality has disappeared.

Edit: 7/04

Tiles are working, but images change only 1x per day. This needs to be a shorter period.

Using a Surface RT ... Photo app version is 6.3.9431.0 on 8.1 preview and is 16.4.438.9288 on 8.  Live tile is not working. Cannot select picture folders to view (ie facebook, skydrive, etc).

Really hope it's just a beta thing. Makes no real sense to cull the Facebook integration.

    Otherwise, 8.1 is pretty stunning.

I'm liking the features of Windows RT 8.1 quite a bit.  One app, I haven't been able to make any traction with is the photos app.  It isn't showing anything from SkyDrive and there doesn't seem to be any option to select it any more.  Maybe it just doesn't work in this version, but I was looking forward to trying out all of the new slideshow stuff.

    Thanks,

    Corey

Why has syncing with Facebook been removed? Really impacts on the usefulness of this app.

Is this just something that's been pulled from the beta and will return in the main release?
