Haven't read the entire thread, so I'm not quite sure what the exact problem is with the Photos App and Libraries, but I did just want to say that in my case, the Photos App is displaying all files and folders in my Pictures Library. In fact, this is how I got the Photos App to show my pictures that are stored in Skydrive (I simply added my Skydrive Pictures folder to the Pictures Library). Edit: The Photos App even knows that the Skydrive Pictures folder is from Skydrive, as when I select a subfolder from the Skydrive Pictures folder, the heading up top changes from "This PC" to "SkyDrive". Would you care to post images showing this? Otherwise, I find it hard to believe since that is one of the things everyone is saying does not work. It also directly contradicts the statement from the Microsoft representative that started this firestorm of a thread.

This is SOOOOOO LAME !!! I hate it. I just got my Surface a couple days ago, and I LOVED that it shuffled through my Flickr photos. It was awesome to turn it on and see my kid there on the main screen. Now that is gone ? This makes me want to go back to 8.0. I HATE IT.

No longer allows images from other computers or the network - am guessing that because there is now support for SkyDrive on RT and MS is heavily emphasizing that as the preferred storage location (when you upgrade, one of the questions asked before you even get to the desktop is if you want to use SkyDrive as your default storage area - and that seems to be the default - and MS feels the network, NAS, Homegroup, and other computers are deprecated. Just to throw it out there but Music and Video also appear to have issues with seeing network content that was all working fine before the preview was installed. Of course if you go through Windows Explorer everything works as expected... I have not read the entire thread, so I hope this reply is not redundant: Just add your music and video folders on your SkyDrive to the corresponding library. the Corresponding apps would pick that right up. Under Windows Explorer, go to SkyDrive, right click the folder -> include in library -> choose corresponding library. Go back to the app (reopen it if have to), all of your supporting content should appear. Like Barb says in the post above this one, I also have a lot of music and photos, enough to go well beyond my limits of 25GB that I have in SkyDrive already. I posted later in the thread about investing money into local network storage, etc., so it's worth while to read at least the first 5 pages were a lot of the pain points people have are identified. I have other non-Microsoft devices and software that read from the network as well and I don't have any specific desires to have to maintain two different sources for media. Additionally if I lived somewhere where I had a low download limit with my ISP then it makes SkyDrive un-usable if you consume a lot of media. From my point of view of seeing the replies for this thread Microsoft should do the following: Restore the Windows 8.0 network library support for built-in Music, Video and Photos apps Don't hide Libraries by default and if they plan to still use them as the primary method of being able to access content from within the included apps or third-party apps Restore the Facebook/Flickr/SkyDrive functionality in the Photos app as it was in Windows 8.0 Allow the addition of non-Windows Library items through a charm within the app to handle non-Library locations that can't be indexed

Photos App in 8.1 loses most of its best features e.g. Facebook/Flickr support...

This doesn't work on my system. SkyDrive folders have been added to the library, but nothing shows up in the Photos App apart from local files. I even tried making some SkyDrive folders available offline, and still nothing.
