I don't get it. Seems like a fundamentally flawed design. I cant even import photos from a camera! So how exactly do i get any photos onto my PC? The only ones i can find a way to load into this app are the ones i loaded before upgrading to 8.1. I dont see any way to get any more photos there. Why bother with upgraded editing options if you cant import anything to edit! Half baked solution and a nonsense resoonse from MS.

Along with loss of Facebook messenger functionality, the changes to the Photo app seem to tell us that the HUB model that is so brilliant a model in Windows Phone and which was a real innovation has now gone from Windows 8. Have facebook blocked Microsoft integrating stuff? Alongside loss of functionality in messenger (and still no outlook.com/exchange tasks), very frustrated and dissappointed with the apps being shipped as part of 8.1 A real opportunity missed

I'm welcoming 8.1 with all of its improvements but this has created a big pot hole in the road. I was really hoping they created more hub influences from windows phone which is really something and a huge step forward. But taking away features and integration w Facebook and Flickr is a great leap backward. If anything they should have changed in the app is adding other social networks such as instagram. Microsoft! We like windows phone and its hubs! Add to windows 8.1!

I guess the question remains, who wants to become a multi-millionaire by developing an app that replaces the functionality of the 8.0 Photo App? I've been using File Brick, which provides a central access point to internal, external and network drives combined with access to my Flickr, Dropbox, Picassa, Twitter, Facebook images and more. While not nearly as polished as the 8.0 Photo App, it is perhaps even more functional. The point is, the fact a 3rd party app can still access this content and consolidate it on 1 app tells me the opportunity still exists even with 8.1 for a 3rd party to develop an App that potentially could far exceed the level of satisfaction and functionality delivered by the 8.0 Photo App. Stop whining and turn lemons into lemonade so we can all benefit while throwing a few shekels your way for your troubles!

That feature was such a great feature, that the even have it listed as one of the selling points on the Surface website: " View and import photos and home videos The Photos app is the place to see all your photos and home videos. Sign in to Surface with a Microsoft account!\[\](http://www.microsoft.com/surface/assets/img/external.png) and see all your photos—whether they're on Facebook, Flickr, SkyDrive, or on your Surface—with the Photos app." Maybe they will take away offering larger hard drives and only offer a 8 GB hard drive and just offer Skydrive to people. And when people complain about that, tell them that they can buy a flash drive. That sounds like the avenue they are taking. If I wanted to go backward in features, I could have bought an Android or iPad.

Photos App in 8.1 loses most of its best features e.g. Facebook/Flickr support...
