Hi Barb, I installed 8.1 Pro RTM on the Samsung Tablet we got at Build 2011. I did elect to use SkyDrive which could explain why I'm not seeing photos from my WHS share. I added the WHS share to the Pictures library. I'm not sure if there is an additional step to make it indexable - I'll look through the link you provided to see that I'm doing it all correctly - thanks!. The approach I took did work for Windows 8. Now here's a bit of a rub, while I get *nothing* when I open the Photos app in 8.1, the live tile *is* showing photos from that WHS share. Go figure.

So far we have 27 pages of ditto, ..and pretty much all of those responses have been provoked by an ill thought out reply from a Microsoft Employee. All totally avoidable. Agree. What a cluster cuss. Most of the other Metro apps have improved nicely but Photos in 8.1 is pretty much worthless to me if it can't show photos from my WHS. What is it with Microsoft these days. They're consistently finding ways to shoot their foot off at a time when they can't afford to do so. Keith/Everyone, I've installed Windows 8.1 RTM from MSDN on my development machine so that I can update my Windows Store Apps for Windows 8.1. Here is what I can report on the Photos App You CAN add indexable network folders on the classic desktop to the library and the Photos App will "see" them. I've installed Windows 8.1 RTM from MSDN on my development machine so that I can update my Windows Store Apps for Windows 8.1.

Here is what I can report on the Photos App
1. You CAN add indexable network folders on the classic desktop to the library and the Photos App will "see" them. I tested by adding folders with images from a Windows 8 RTM and a Windows 7 machine. The Photos App does in fact, show networked media, I've shown in red below what is on the network.
1. I elected to NOT use SkyDrive as a default for storage of Documents during setup (clean install), the Photos App automatically started showing images from a public folder I had created on SKyDrive in the Live Tile. (NOT from the Pictures folder. From a specific Folder with images I had created and made Public). So far I can't find a way to turn this off.
