Photos App in 8.1 loses most of its best features e.g. Facebook/Flickr support...

Come on bring us back the old functionalities of the old photo app. Its not nice to downgrade what was originally there and promote something else worth 15 bucks. It's clearly a "bait and switch" tactic.

Just a quick note, you are replying to Barb Bowman. She is a Microsoft MVP and is a forum moderator, not a Microsoft Employee.

The only thing a Microsoft Employee has recommended is downloading an app per-service to make up for the removal of the service from the Photos app. Such as download the Facebook app to access Facebook photos, download a Flickr app (So far, I'm not sure there is an official one) to access Flickr photos, etc.

That suggestion is from Carmen on page 2 of this thread.

Many people have listed the problems with that idea compared to the way the Photos app worked before but so far there haven't been any responses since then.

Does it cache the photos you view, the ay the original Photos app did?  That is the feature I miss the most.  It allowed me to view a set of photos on Flickr and then show them to other people when I was in a location with no WiFi service.  This was extremely useful.         

You should try it and see, there is a free trial.

I don't follow all this discussion but I certainly missed the features of the previous Photos app. I particularly liked the moving collage display and I have not found anything else in the store the does it in the same way . Any suggestions? The previous version also seemed to be able to use a wider range of photos from different sources - even if they had been viewed but not downloaded - or maybe I was just imagining it.

Why were there about ten or more messages deleted from this thread?  The discussion of "the other software" and about how it was so privacy-intrusive was both interesting and informative.

Did MS want the thread edited because they were criticized for also having terrible privacy issues?

Did the author of the recommended software want the posts removed because we were critical about how much information it wanted from our Facebook pages?

This feels really weird just to have so many messages disappear without notice.  It makes me a bit uncomfy with MS.

I split the thread from the main thread and HIGHLIGHTED the privacy concerns and if you read the thread you ill see I also contacted the app authors, etc.  Please take a look.

(If other messages seem to be disappearing, perhaps they were split off into new threads OR merged into other similar threads. )
