I was just about to post a similar comment.
I totally agree with your comments particularly where you say CamenZ's explanation is "quite disingenuous". This is the sort of response Don Mattrick made about the work around for the Xbox One's "always on" requirement (Which has since been changed.).
I also own and WP8 and find the "hub" concept to be one of the phones strongest features. Why CarmenZ thinks it is better to find ones photos spread across several apps is stunning - let alone not being able to easily access NAS/Skydrive photos being a particularly bad idea.
Hopefully Microsoft's imminent reorg will put people in place that can truly understands a consumer's needs and dumb moves like this one will be a thing of the past. Hope springs eternal.
