You're getting error 0x800f0906 because you have KB3022345 installed. Uninstall it by going to Programs and Features in Control Panel and then click the link to "View installed updates".

In the Search box top right, copy/paste (or type) KB3022345 and when it appears in the list, right click it and choose Uninstall.

I have had the same problem and have tried all fixes suggested over the last several months but at last I found a fix that worked for me.

1st: I found the following post that told me where to find the source needed to use with the DISM.exe to fix my 7 corrupted files reported by DISM in the log file (DISM /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth).

    http://www.thewindowsclub.com/repair-corrupt-windows-image-error-0x800f0906.

if you were using windows 2012 you need to gather the source from c:\windows\winsxs to a folder even maybe to another drive for safe keeping (just in case if you need it) and the command to include that is "Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:(path to source) /LimitAccess" I have spent two to three weeks to figure this out as I was having outages going on with my connections before I got my cable modem replaced yesterday and to recover the missing files as it won't get the files from windows update because it does not have it? That is why you need to include /LimitAccess

    "

Following Ryan11433's suggestion I saved the winsxs folder from a win8.1 64bit system that ran dism okay to my portable HD and then used it as the source to run "Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:(path to source) /LimitAccess" on my problem PC (also a

win8.1 64bit system). The seven bad files were replaced and now I can run "Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth" without getting the  Error 0x800f0906.

If you have this option try it. It worked for me. Sorry I can't tell you the names of my corrupted files but I ran a utility that purged my CBS and DISM log files. I'm sure one or more of the bad files were preventing DISM from getting the needed fix from the /online option in the DISM command.

    Good luck

    Hi,

I have been trying to resolve this issue (0x800f0906) on a Windows 8.1 professional tablet.

It occurred to me that DISM was attempting to connect to Windows Update website with no success.

Since I am using Window Update services in a Small Business Server environment, there is a group policy that directs all Windows updates to our WUS server.

I disabled this policy, rebooted the computer and DISM completed successfully.

Since the reason for running DISM in the first place, was to fix SFC /scannow "unable to fix corrupt files", I then ran SFC and that to, completed successfully.

    Hope this helps for some.

    Thomas
