You're getting error 0x800f0906 because you have KB3022345 installed. Uninstall it by going to Programs and Features in Control Panel and then click the link to "View installed updates".

In the Search box top right, copy/paste (or type) KB3022345 and when it appears in the list, right click it and choose Uninstall.

    Hi Kevin,

Did you make any changes to the computer prior to the issue?

This error code occurs because the computer cannot download the required files from Windows Update.

There seems to be two files which are corrupt/not present, check if you can find the following files on your computer netprofmsvc.dll (C:\windows\system32) & wmiprvsd.dll (C:\windows\system32\wbem & c:\windows\winsxs..)

    Method 1:

Run the System File Checker (SFC) scan. Follow these steps:

    a. Boot to the desktop view.

    b. Press Windows key + X

    c. Select command prompt (admin).

    d. Type sfc /scannow and then press ENTER:

The sfc /scannow command scans all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions.

    Method 2:

Check if the following update is installed:

    www.support.microsoft.com/kb/2811660

If the update is not installed then you can download and install it manually.

    Refer:

    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/default.aspx

Hope this resolves the issue. If the issue persists, you can write to us and we will be glad to assist you further.

    I CAN find netprofmsvc.dll (C:\windows\system32) & wmiprvsd.dll (C:\windows\system32\wbem on my pc.

But I can't find  wmiprvsd.dll( c:\windows\winsxs..)  Does that mean I'm missing some files?  Should I have it in windows/winsxs and if so, how do I get it there?  Appreciate any help you can provide. Thanks.

Hi. Just would like to double check - still there is no solution for the problem?

I experience similar symptoms on my PC. It asks me go to win updates and install. Installation fails. DSIM and SFC does not work for me (fail with ref to add details in CBS.log).

So is there any good fix known for this? I read thread carefully 2 times and it seems there is no any solution. Is that true? It is very strange - there is no fix already for half of a year?

I'm currently running 8.1. That's when the problems began. After a few reboots auto update has resumed, for now.

I finally updated to windows 8.1. I found it really simple and less buggy than its predecessors. So please update to win 8.1 .
