Original Title: I have hp laserjet 1020 plus printer installed on win 7 it was a share printer when i was giving any print from win8 pc printer is going to offline & when i remove & add printer its working

i was installed win8 latest  drivers on all pc

I would like you to add few information:

Did you make any hardware or software changes on the computer prior to this issue?

I would suggest you to make sure that all the cables for the printer are connected properly and the printer is turned ON. Sometimes, offline status for a printer could be due no power to the printer.You also need to make sure that network sharing might be turned off.

If all the basic settings are checked and are up to the mark, you can follow the methods to troubleshoot the issue:

Method 1:

Method 2:

I would suggest you to uninstall and reinstall the driver for the printer.

You can follow the steps to do so:

Note: Please make sure that you have the setup file for the driver of the printer before uninstalling the current version.

a) Press Windows and x key together and click on Device Manager.

b) Locate the printer driver and expand the driver icon.

c) Right click on the driver icon and click on Uninstall.

d) Follow the onscreen instructions to uninstall the driver.

e) Locate the setup file of the driver for the printer.

f) Double Click on the setup file and follow the onscreen instructions to reinstall the driver.

Check if you are able to find the printer online.

    I'm having the same problem with Windows 8 and our Epson SX435W. Basically I'm now totally frustrated with Windows 8 to the point where I'm considering removing it and installing XP. Over a year now since I got the new laptop - expected it to be different and thought it would become easier in time, but having to reinstall the printer every day is beyond a joke.

    Sorry, but I would not recommend Windows 8 to anyone at this point.

    I'm having issues with Windows 8 and network printers as well. Network printers only work for the same session that they've been installed on the computer. My company just moved from XP, Vista and 7 (whereas none of these has had any issues with printers) to 8. Whenever I restart the computer, they are marked as offline although they are online. The IP and connection are all good. I get response when I use cmd to ping printers (but they are still marked as offline printing-wise). Only way to make them work in Win8 seems to be to delete and reinstall the printers each time, which is hardly a solution. There must be a better way to address this, or perhaps this is a weak point in win8 that needs to be addressed?

    I've tested this with Windows 8.1 Pro, HP Deskjet 3070 (built-in network printer) and D-Link DPR1020 print server (for non-network printers).

    Hi all;

    another issue that needs to be considered, and is happening to me at present, is that the printer/s get assigned different I.P addresses from you DHCP router(network printers), every time you reboot your router. I am in the process of testing a new NetGear router(R7000) and in order to fully tested I have to close it down and rebooted it often. Every time this happens some or all of the router attached devices get different I.P. addresses. My solution is to delete the "offline" printer (control panel "devices and printers" selection, select and delete the printer), and re-install it as it has been explained before in this thread. If unable to delete the printer, is because it most likely has a document/s pending in the queue. Select the printer, select 'see what's printing' select the pending document/s and cancel them. When the print queue is clear, you can delete the printer and proceed to add it again.

    If someone out there has a better/faster solution especially with printer and other devices' reassigned I.P. addresses I would be grateful if you post your solution/s.

    My O/S is Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 Pro, and I have also been told that assigning static I.P. addresses in the router attached devices is not recommended...thanks,
