I have been concerned about my systems security since upgrading to window 8 last November on occations a phone has appeared in my network devices list well windows knows the phone it can get make model and mac code but after clicking on the phones propities it disappears. At first I thought it might have got in through my wireless router which is a virgin super hub made by netgear and after a little digging I changed the password and even the way devices connect wirelessly and made my hug a mac code only connection. This worked for a few weeks then hey presto another phone or tablet appeared on my network. I even paid a extra few quid to Mcafee and upgraded to access all areas to cover my tablet and my our phone the issue persisted . I was so annoyed at this time but I had noticed the my processor was a 64 bit capable processor so I took the plunge and brought another windows pro 8 pack as the system had to have a clean install. All has been fine for six weeks since I upgraded to a 64 bit machine and suddenly it has all started again I have had three different devices appearing in my network map and I have not got a clue if my system has been compromised. Or is it this think is a way for others to connect to the internet for free using my isp which is illegal.
Does anyone have any ideas where I turn to, to solve this problem ?

I had this issue ,i have searched a lot in the internet and no absolute solution for this, I have tried very simple way through the router by blocking the mac address of these devices and it works fine for me , you have to keep watching your network for few days and when you found any unknown device (most likely it is a phone with just MAC address and no IP address) block the the these MAC address in your router

I had the same thing pop up on my windows 10 machine. M201 as telephony. I am narrowing it down to the fact that my Router has a build in system for a 4G SiM card, which is my back up internet if my line connection should fail. I think that's where the M201 device sits. I guess I am wondering if you have a Mobile SIM card in your router as a fail over connection as well.
No I am still getting a phone showing every now and then but it is not in the router log so it is not connected to my network.
The instructions for the drivers are to get the wireless to start working again.
I just read that others have disabled WPS in the router settings and that fixed the problem. Not for sure if I will need to reconnect after disable though.

Did installing the new version of the driver solve the problem of the random phones showing up in your network devices? The phones never show up on my "attached devices" on my router, but then randomly appear in my network devices in the windows explorer.
I am having same problem with unknown phone showing up on my network but router does not show it is accessing my network. Still working on that.
Anyway I have a Lenovo computer and when I upgraded to windows 8.1 I lost wireless connections due to the Realtek RTL8188E wireless driver adapter. In the device manager look for the wireless adapter and select properties to see if you are getting device not working properly and an error code.
If so This is what fixed mine. Found on the Lenovo community site. Instructions below:
Driver Installation Instructions for the Realtek RTL8188E Wireless Device
Go to this website: http://devid.info/58248
And click on the TINY link that says, "58248_wl_139h_2007.2.0706.2012_w800.zip" (31.9 Mb) and download the zip fle. Extract the .zip and place that folder (58248_wl_139h_2007.2.0706.2012_w800) into your Drivers folder in Local Disk C. (This is the RTL8188E driver which is extracted but not installed)
After placing extracted files (58248_wl_139h_2007.2.0706.2012_w800) in the drivers folder:
1 From the DEVICE MANAGER, find the Realtek RTL8188E Wireless Device and click to "Update Driver".
2 Then click "Browse My Computer for driver software"
3 Then click "Let me pick on a list of device drivers on my computer"
4 Then click on "Have Disk" button and browse to netrtwlane.inf which is slightly buried in the 58248_wl_139h_2007.2.0706.2012_w800 folder.
PATH: 58248_wl_139h_2007.2.0706.2012_w800 -> RTWLANE_Driver -> Win8X64 -> netrtwlane.inf
5 Once netrtwlane.inf is selected, click OK and click NEXT to continue.
6 INSTALLED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
7 DON'T TOUCH THE DRIVER BECAUSE MICROSOFT STILL SEES THE ORIGINALL DRIVER AS THE LATEST.
