So whenever I'm in a file explorer window and I want to delete a file(eg PDF) I get a "File in use" message.
I've figured out that this is caused by the preview pane. No preview pane no message and the file deletes.
I want to know how I can delete a file with the preview pane active because I want to check the contents to make sure it's the correct file I want to delete?

spot on !! but, why do we really need to do this?, we should be able to delete any File/Folder by...hitting the delete button.
I suppose there will be a technical reason, but if there is it just means it gets more frustrating for the non techies out there.
Shift delete does indeed work, but renders the recycle bin useless. With all the hype around W10 I'm amazed that we can't delete a PDF without turning off the very useful preview feature. Wow.
Also use Shift Delete

The Shift Delete appears to work the best.
