Yours is not the first propose work around. Whether it be your technique (uninstalling all sorts of stuff) or others (involving reg hacks....), these measures are possibly risking much bigger issues, or causing usability problems (for some people the Microsoft
Office Access database engine 2007 is critical component of certain programs they use) ... For sure experienced IT personnel can give it a whirl (they have the capacity to fix anything they break - or reformat at the very least), but for the average user
this could cause more problems than it fixes.
Regardless of the version, I don't recommend to anyone to start uninstalling SP, hotfix, patches,.... whole applications, performing reg hacks, or god knows what else may have been advise here, or anywhere else.
People need to wait for a proper fix from Microsoft.
