HELP! I've encountered the SrtTrail.txt problem!!!

My laptop with Windows 8 Pro 64-bit won't start properly. Every time that I start the laptop up, it tells me that I have a problem and it needs to restart. It then tries to auto-repair the system. I have BitLocker installed on my machine, encrypting my C:, so it asks for the recovery key. When I enter the recovery key it tries to diagnose my PC. After about a minute, I get told that auto-repair couldn't repair my PC, and the file which is causing the problem is C:\Windows\System32\Logfiles\Srt\SrtTrail.txt. I've tried all of the advanced options but they don't seem to be working as after using them it loops. Has anyone got any ideas on how to sort this problem out? The laptop I'm using is a SONY Vaio Duo 11 Ultrabook and I've had i for around 2/3 months.

I followed the steps to enter the command in the command prompt. When I do I get the following message:

The drive, the path, or the file name is not valid.

I entered the following in the command prompt:

Chkdsk/f/r X:C

any further ideas?

Actually the command is chkdsk /f /r C:      not X:C

may occur due to user-mode graphics drivers crossing over and passing bad data to the kernel code.

If you can get into the Advanced boot options, try using the Low-res video option.   BTW it helps to have a boot menu to facilitate that.  Otherwise using bootable recovery media may be necessary.

Good luck

I have had the same issues.  I have a brand new tower with W10.  Everything looked great UNTIL I took off McAfee and added Avast anti virus.  Once I download this anti virus and reboot, it goes into that loop of trying to repair computer. I have to restore to factory default, which then there are no log files to view. It will not allow me to check disc or advance repair.  I even created a restore point BEFORE installing the anti virus and I cant restore to that point.  I have to go back to factory settings.

I have the same problem. At first it was showing the  error code:  0xc0000225

    so I used :

    • diskpart (loads the disk partition tool)
    • list volume (show a list of drive volumes)
    • select volume X (where X is the number of the EFI system partition, or ESP). The volume may already be labeled as ESP, or it may just be a small FAT32 partition.
    • assign letter=Z (assigns the volume to a temporary drive).
    • active (marks volume as active)
    • exit (returns to command prompt)
    • bcdboot C:\windows /s Z: /f UEFI (recreate BCD)
    • this did not resolve the issue, it seems worse.

I have tried all the trouble shooting in windows Recovery Environment (RE), and I am stuck in this loop: auto repair then it goes to: Automatic repair couldn't repair your PC...then the log file: E:\WINDOWS\System32\Logfiles\Srt\SrtTrail.txt

and then back again to the Windows RE. I have tried to disable driver signature enforcement without luck among other trouble shooting trials. While in command prompt I did the check disk for errors command and it checked drive E  where the operating system (OS) is installed.

Now I thought prior to this disaster the OS was in C: and not E.

Also I noticed that my data drives were D  and E. Both  D and E drives have 500 gig capacity  and prior to the system crash D was almost half full and E was empty.

Now after the system crash and after the all the troubleshooting, including:

    C is now inaccesible

    D is now empty

    E now has the OS

The log file: E:\WINDOWS\System32\Logfiles\Srt\SrtTrail.txt  generated this notepad log file:

    Time taken = 47 ms

    Root cause found:

The operating system version is incompatible with Startup Repair.

Now i am even more confused. How can I resolve this issue? Please help.

    Thanks
