Windows 8 continously loses wifi connection

I can manage without using my new laptop as have a work computer with Windows 7. Seems Windows have followed the Vista model for launch with Windows 8 being far from ready for laptops. I guess it's been developed totally for mobile devices and then chucked on everything else. I'm just hoping somewhere in the next few updates they sort this problem. Thanks for the help if I come up with anything else I'll let you know but can't face it at the minute.

I´m really disappointed with Windows 8 and this problem. It happens here 2 and 3 times a day, a really annoying problem and seens like Microsoft gives no help on solving it. Still using it because I need windows for a project.

By the way: I´m not sure if it´s related but I noticed this problem usually happens when I have heavy traffic on main server (the master DNS of the network), in a few time even the mac and linux machines fails on name resolution *but* they recover from the problem graciouslly, only the windows 8 dies and need a reboot (some times a router reboot solves the problem too).

I take it this problem has never been solved? I have exactly the same issue with nearly all Wifi networks I connect to. The only one that seems to work without issue is my mobile set as a wifi hotspot. Never had this problem with any other device or operating system other than Windows 8. Am amazed Miscrosoft have managed to make the most basic of function so difficult. Resolvable only via cmd!!! i.e. Windows 8 isn't capable.

You assume right... never resolved. I have downloaded Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector, but am sending my laptop (Asus) in for repair in short time, risking a bill if they find it is a software problem. I have done everything in the book, ran all cmd-prompts, updated every bios and driver available, checked tens of wifi networks in FOUR different countries. I pretty much hate Windows 8 now. Love the computer. Hate Microsoft.

I am having almost the exact same problem, wifi dropping out all the time. I turn it on and off using 'airplane mode' and this mostly gets me reconnected but only for a while. I think it something to do with a windows update because Dell customer service said restore to before the update and this sorted the problem until another update happened. This is madness from microsoft - if this is happening across different machines using different hardware using different routers. Micrsoft please help.

I am no way competent enough to follow what was recommended here, nor do I want to start changing everything on the computer only to fin d it has caused another problem.

Brand new laptop and this is happening, am a freelancer too and this is costing me money, my colleagues Mac never has this problem.

Please help.

The whole thing is ridiculous. I still haven't found a solution to the problem and have missed an endless amount of projects and money. I will try to send it in for repair to Asus (which again is costing me even more money, as I won't have a computer for weeks) but if Win 8 is the problem, there's nothing Asus can do. I knowingly did not chose a Mac because  the Asus was better, but to me it looks like Microsoft singlehandedly will kill the PC market and hand the frustrated customers over to Apple. Good job, Microsoft.
