Based on my past experience in dealing with Microsoft folks outside of the server space, 99% of the time the problem is with clueless decision makers in Redmond that live in their Redmond bubbles. They have absolutely no clue who their customers are, what
their customers need, what's causing us grief, etc... The kicker is, they absolutely do not care. Why should they? They get paid and rewarded regardless. Take your pick of products, Office, Windows Phone, Visio, Lync, Windows (for PCs) etc.... They don't know
and absolutely do not care. Thankfully, the server teams are generally a LOT more aware and often try hard to get it right for us customers. As a DBA manager for both Oracle and SQL Server, I'm repeatedly surprised with how positively the SQL Server team responds
when we send them complaints or requests.
Think about it, we've had SMS backup, restore and transfer capabilities 10-15 years ago with "dumb" phones. Remember the old Motorola flip phones and the Nokia candybars (where that infamous Nokia ringtone started)? LOTS of 3rd party software that could
read and store SMS in text files or in Outlook if you had ActiveSync working. Can't do it today on Windows Phone? Well, how about we just randomly fire 50% of the team and put out job descriptions based on delivering capabilities ranked by customers? I'll
wager anybody a doppio espresso SMS management and transfer between Windows Phones (WP8 or higher) becomes reality before next summer.
