"application has been blocked from accessing graphics hardware"

recently every time i use a program that use my gpu( I have optimus technology so it switch when needed etc...) I get the error message " application has been blocked from accessing graphics hardware", the internet does not seem to be very helpful about this problem, does anybody know what causes it/how i can fix it ????

    It looks like the cause for this can range anywhere from "your hardware is failing / unstable because of overclock" to "your drivers don't work well (with this game)".

    In my case, it was actually a dynamic underclock that caused it: AMD's "Chill" feature, which aims to reduce GPU use when a game is idle, would cause this error message in Eon Altar. Turning off Chill fixed it.

    I had a problem with this when my laptop (ASUS ROG with i7 6700HQ) was brand new in January with Windows 10. For a couple of months, the Intel HD Graphics driver would stop responding and sometimes block applications.

    I figured out that Intel's drivers were not optimized for Windows 10 yet, but they are now.

    I fixed the problem by downloading Intel's "Intel Driver Update Utility" which makes updating Intel drivers a piece of cake, just like updating your NVidia drivers.

    I should mention though, that this tool doesn't work for all PCs. I've had some driver trouble in the past with my school laptop, but when I tried to use said program, it said the components were special designed by the PC manufacturer or something like that. Higher end machines that use off-shelf parts however shouldn't have a problem with it.

    Its not a overclocking issue, most people with this problem arent overclocking, there is no, one reason why this error occurs, each person needs to find what their individual issue is, and Ive seen an uncountable number of fixes people have found for this issue.  This error can be accompanied by the error, "display adapter has stopped working, but has recovered" error also.

    Hmm... try to increase the mV to 1100 if this doesn't work try lowering the GPUs Core clock (MHz)

    every time you get this message keep lowering it by -50 until it stops giving you the problem i was in 1225 and i end it up on 850, i don't get the message now and i play fine.

    Glad this works for you 

    But doesn't resolve the issue, have tried your fix exactly as you describe on my system 

    Msi GT70 (factory built laptop) 

    Upgraded to windows 10, and bam no more gpu. 

    You'd think F**#ing microsoft would have looked into making this Application access *feature*??(haha) actually work correctly.

    This post is from '13 on win 8.. the problem still persists.. 

    How the F**# hasn't this been fixed? 

    Ubuntu works great windows 7 works in my case. but still M$ fix your Sh*t.
