USB port does not detect cell phone

I have a Samsung Infuse SGH - I997 cell phone.  I have downloaded the software from Samsung with drivers and have installed it on my laptop running Windows 7 SP1.  When I connect the phone to the USB port it charges but Windows does not detect the phone to install the device driver.  I have tried other USB devices and the ports work for each on I tried except for the cell phone.  Is there something I can do so I can download pictures from my cell phone onto my laptop?

    I have always been able to send pictures from my cell phone but lately it has not responded.

    It was working just a couple of days ago and now tells me they cannot find my device.
