USB port does not detect cell phone

I have a Samsung Infuse SGH - I997 cell phone.  I have downloaded the software from Samsung with drivers and have installed it on my laptop running Windows 7 SP1.  When I connect the phone to the USB port it charges but Windows does not detect the phone to install the device driver.  I have tried other USB devices and the ports work for each on I tried except for the cell phone.  Is there something I can do so I can download pictures from my cell phone onto my laptop?

    I am unable to change the phone number on the process to add my Xperia M4 AQua android smart phone to my PC in order to download photos from my smart phone.Can you help please.

    I have the same problem my pc does not recognize my android tracphone in order to upload my contacts and photos.  I don't know how to get it to recognize the phone from the usb port.  Tracphone is no help what so ever!

    They do not mention a phone jack, only usb install, so no help to locate a REGULAR phone jack on this game computer.  Need someone with knowledge of the location of the phone jack...please inform if possible.
